- JSJenny SDec 6, 20251.0I went in for a breakfast sandwich and I came across this Mexican woman who took my order I started reading out my order she started reading it back to me in Spanish. I was just trying to stay focused because I wanted to make sure she was paying very close attention because I have a dairy allergy so I wanted to make sure she got my order right and honestly, she was confusing me. I do know Spanish and English, but I don’t know every single word in Spanish and I told her this I said I’m doing the best that I can with what I know I said, so can you please just take my order because she kept repeating it back in Spanish and she was just confusing Me and she refused to cooperate with me, she just kept repeating it in Spanish. I thought yeah that’s great. That’s awesome that you know Spanish, but I need you to talk to me in English right now. I needed to make sure that she was going to get my order correct because I’m scared of people accidentally Adding cheese or something with dairy to my order. It’s happened in the past not at this location, but it’s happened to me. I was honest with her and I said I don’t know the word for this in Spanish, but please just make sure that there’s no cross contamination because I do have a dairy allergy And she just kept trying to repeat everything in Spanish before I could even finish speaking, so they just made me feel like she wasn’t even paying attention and comprehending everything I was saying and that was the scary part to me because I need her to make sure there’s no cheese added to my food. I can’t say for sure what was going on with her, but I made it very clear that I was Doing the best telling to slowly say everything so she would get it right. If I could’ve ordered in Spanish, I would have also I’m the customer I’m talking to her in the language that I know best I don’t know what was the point of her switching it and I did my best but that was just a very shitty experience. I love speaking Spanish when I see another fellow Spanish speaker, but I just didn’t know all the words. I just felt completely like disrespected. I just went in to get a breakfast sandwich and to make sure what I’m eating doesn’t have dairy. It’s also very rude to just assume. I’m also Jewish, Irish, African, French and I don’t know any of my other native tongues going forward if she could just act like a professional that would be great. Honestly what she did was racist and dehumanizing.
