Had a reservation for 2 at 7:30pm on Valentine's Day. Walked in and told the hostess we had a reservation, and she said "I know" and walked away. Shortly after, a display with a glass vase of flowers collapsed in front of me and my girlfriend. My girlfriend let the hostess know, and the hostess didn't say one word and walked away again before coming back to clean up the mess, which made my girlfriend feel unwelcome and uncomfortable (almost as if we caused it, when we were standing a few feet away). We waited about 15 minutes more without being addressed whatsoever, or even having our name asked for the reservation. Other people who had reservations began to question what was going on, and the louder guests began getting seated without explanation. One guy said he had a reservation for 7pm after seeing 2 couples being seated after they asked the hostess. The lack of professionalism, discomfort from interactions with the hostess, and the failure to uphold reservations was incredibly disappointing. Staffing issues have no impact on the way that the customers are addressed, and it was unacceptable the way in which things were handled that night. I've lived in Rahway for 10+ years, and this was going to be my first time at lucianos and I was excited to try it with someone I care about. That excitement was only met with disappointment, and from other reviews it seems like we weren't alone. To the lucianos management- Do better.
My husband and I went here for Valentine’s Day last night. We had a reservation for 6pm and we were promptly seated. The atmosphere was nice, the tables were festive with red table cloths, and they were handing out roses to all the women. Cute, right? Well, that’s pretty much the only nice things I can say about this place. It took 45min to get our cold appetizers. Another hour later and we were still waiting for our entrees. Our waiter, who hadn’t checked on us once, stopped by and asked us if we received our entrees yet, then went to the kitchen to check on them. He came back and said they would be right out. Another 15min and they finally arrived. We got a half-hearted apology, “sorry we’re just really busy.” Funny, because it seemed there were more unoccupied tables than seated tables. The food was so-so. Definitely not $50 worth. My husband commented he had eaten better seafood Alfredo at Olive Garden. My steak was chewy, though the pasta sauce did taste good. We were never checked on again until we had long finished our meals. We wanted dessert but were afraid that would take another hour, so we started checking Google for nearby places to walk in for a casual dessert. They finally came back and we risked ordering dessert, which thankfully came without too long a wait. Finally the waiter came back with our bill, and when we went to pay, he realized he forgot to add our bottle of wine (something we hadn’t noticed in our rush to pay and leave), and he took the check back to add it. No apologies for the wait or inconvenience of the entire evening. Over $200 for a subpar meal and an even more subpar experience that took 2hrs and 45mins with a reservation. Everyone around us seemed to have a similar experience. We spoke to another table who waited longer than us for their food, and we even saw several people walk out. I wanted to warn every person who came in after us to run for their lives. But honestly where else would they go on Valentine’s Day without a reservation. Just a really terrible experience overall. I will not be retuning to Luciano’s.

My boyfriend and I arrived for our Valentines Day reservation at 8:15pm. The line was out of the door to be seated. We waited 20 minutes to be seated. Once seated, we sat for 45 minutes and no one came over to take our drink order but every table that sat after us were served drinks and had started to order food. When we tried to get someone’s attention they all ignored us. We were able to get the attention of a manager who then moved us to a different room for “better service”. Once seated in the other room we began to wait again. My boyfriend flagged down someone who ended up being our waiter, when asked what is going on, the waiter said to speak to the manager. He never introduced himself, asked what we wanted to drink or eat. WE basically did his job. After waiting 45 minutes, the waiter comes back over and notifies us what I ordered (T-bone steak) was no longer available. I then opted for the salmon, the potatoes were burned to a crisp! Absolute nightmare of an experience.

You walk in and the place looks great—very well taken care of, nicely decorated. Unfortunately, that’s about the only positive thing I can say about my experience.
We came on Valentine’s Day for an early 6 PM dinner and were seated right away, which we appreciated. Then we sat for about 20 minutes before anyone even came by to take a drink order. When the waiter finally showed up, we just ordered everything at once to save time.
We sat down at 6. Our appetizer didn’t arrive until 6:45. Then our entrées didn’t come out until 7:35.
My wife ordered the surf and turf—filet mignon (medium) and a lobster tail. The filet was burnt to a crisp, and the lobster tail was so dry and flavorless it was honestly shocking. Probably the worst lobster I’ve ever tasted.
I ordered the stuffed filet of sole, and it was so dry I had to peel off the top layer just to get to the stuffing—which, by the way, tasted spoiled.
Overall, the food was a complete disappointment, especially for a place that looks so nice.

Came here for Valentine’s Day and the service was abysmal. Nearly 3 hours start to finish for our meal. An hour and a half to get our entree, sitting across from a table that has waited over two hours for their meals. This place is not that busy and a prix fixe menu which should alleviate these issues. Would go 30 minutes without seeing our waiter. The one apology we got for this fiasco was a a joke. Food was average. My lobster was very over cooked and chewy.
Evidently some people called out, but the wait staff weren’t hustling. They were moving at the same pace if they were full staffed. Took 1-2 hours to clear the empty tables around us. Will not be coming back here. The short wait staff explains horrible service but what is the excuse on 90 minutes for food? Our final bill was over $200.
Hopefully people later in the night had a better experience.
