I used to go to the original one in Alexandria VA back in the day and it was literally 5 dudes cooking on one huge grill and you would eat peanuts out of a wooden barrel and just throw the shells on the ground inside this tiny burger joint. These days they still make great burgers but not quite as good as they did in the original location. This particular Five Guys I found there to be a little language barrier and it unintentionally lead to my order getting skewed. But it was just as consistent in quality as any other Five Guys. The chocolate peanut butter shake is the best. The staff was cordial and pleasant.

Overall it was decent, but a bit disappointing that they didn’t have the peanuts available this time since that’s kind of part of the Five Guys experience for me. The burger itself was good though, and I like how their kitchen is open so you can see everything being made. I also totally forgot their burgers come with two patties, which I actually like because one patty is never enough for me. Not a bad visit overall, but the missing peanuts was a bit of a letdown.

Serving peanuts for free began as a way for people to pass the time while they waited for us to cook up their meals (way back in the day, before smartphones). It was such a hit, and has become such a Five Guys tradition, that we keep our stores stocked with peanuts to this day.

Leftover fries are excellent reheated in the oven (or Air Fryer). According to Chad Murrell, one of the Five Guys, just pop them in a 350-degree oven for about 10-15 minutes.
