In a world full of premium steakhouses, Monterey Grill is still trying to find its place in the market. In my opinion, it falls short when it comes to uniqueness both in flavoring and price point.
We visited for our anniversary, and I will say the atmosphere is romantic. The dining area is dimly lit, and the live band adds a nice touch, especially with the lead singer engaging with guests. Service was top-notch from both the hostess and the waiter.
However, there were a few issues. They couldn’t locate my reservation booked through Resy, though luckily it wasn’t too busy. The dry-aged NY strip was tender but lacked flavor inside. The sea bass was bland as well, including the noodles and veggies. The tuna poke was also a disappointment.
I highly recommend other steakhouses like Steak 48 if you’re looking for a true premium experience. But if you want something local and convenient, this spot could work. When you’re paying premium steakhouse prices, the food needs to shine just as much as the ambiance and that’s where Monterey Grill still has room to grow.

So it was my birthday .. 11/11 I didn’t tell the server that info
just going for a drink & apps on a Tuesday.. I asked for casa azul in my margarita.. he said it a up charge, that a 50$ shot .. I took a deep breath thinking I know it is pricey but it want it
i said the name i know the tequila .. so I said just bring it as a chilled shot w salt rim .. so it early like 5 pm .. how did it show up no salt .. than he ordered something we didn’t even ask for as a meal.
So to be clear I have been in this industry & he was a bartender working the tables around the bar .. I never told someone the price like it was unrealistic purchase.. you are there to upscale the experience..
why would u say that when a couple is coming out to enjoy a date.. baffled.. I been there for the grand opening & took my son for his birthday.. very disappointed

The place itself was beautiful the host to the waitress was very friendly and didn’t mind a conversation. Everything was delicious to the appetizers to the courses. The only thing that wasn’t great was the NY stripe aged steak. I asked for it to be cooked medium rare but this was the worst chewy steak I ever had. I saved majority of it to see if I could fix it at home but no luck. Just not the best quality steak and was hoping it was due to grill being in the name. They only charged $8 bucks for that little dollop of butter on top of the steak. The best thing we had was the scallops they are to die for! They melt in your mouth and the flavor was fantastic. I would come again just wouldn’t get their steak again.

Food was amazing . Server was amazing.. very friendly. He went out of his way to make sure my father who is hard of hearing understood everything he was saying. Time between courses a bit long but not horrible. Issue was the live band. It was so loud and made our dining experience miserable. We could not have a conversation. The band was good but just didn’t make sense in a fine dining restaurant. Our reservation was 5:45 so not like we were eating late.. maybe if band started at 9 or after would make more sense.

We had the most wonderful experience celebrating our 41st anniversary at Monterey Grill! From start to finish, the service and atmosphere were exceptional. Our waiter, Khaleil, was absolutely fabulous—attentive, friendly, and made us feel so special all evening. Brandon and Jerome from the management team, personally checked in and went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. Samantha, our bartender, crafted delicious cocktails and added such warmth to the night with her great personality and preciseness.
We ordered from all three menus, and every dish was top-notch—beautifully prepared, flavorful, and perfectly presented. The cocktails were equally outstanding, creative, and expertly balanced.
The live music was amazing and created the perfect backdrop for our celebration. Everything—from the food and drinks to the service and ambiance—was absolutely five-star.
Thank you to the entire Monterey Grill team for making our 41st anniversary truly unforgettable. We can’t wait to come back! 💕
