  Have been ordering from Jalwa for past few years. Great food and great flavors. One of the reasons I used to love them was because of the great portions. Unfortunately they’ve fallen into the trap of so many Indian restaurants where you pay $25 and get a bowl of sauce and 4 bite size chunks of meat. Posting this in the hope they’ll realize they are turning away loyal customers.

  Found this spot in Montclair and it served one of the best Indian foods I’ve ever had, my favorites were samosa chat and the paneer saag. The nans were very soft and the ambiance was calm and clean. The owner and staff were very nice and service was fast.

  This is my second time here. First time was valentines day. Super busy. Did not know you need a reservation. But Nayn got me in. When I tell you.. the food was so amazing. Everything was freshly made. The first taste ummm!! The season and flavor sang in your mouth. The food made me stop and think.. and absorb what was happening in my my and senses. No exaggeration. Today is my birthday and wanted the same feeling and I got that. Jason was my server.. so sweet. I'm now vegetarian.. i do eat eggs, drink milk.. no fish/ meat.. he recommended the bhindi masala, i was a bit skepital, but buoy oh bouy when I tell you, flavorful, fresh, the okra was firm so so good.. serve with balsmati rice. I also hah the samusa.. it a potato roll. The outside was a nice crisp dough which was filled with beans and potato. So good! But let me tell you what I couldn't stop thinking about.. the eggplant naan. The naan came with real figs inside. That was the first thing I tasted on my first visit. It was as good the second time. So far it seems like consistacy is theie thing. Chef Mayur..... thank you so much. You made my mouth sing and my stomach happy on my birthday. They open late afternoon at 4:30. I had the resturant for myself. I felt the star I am. Thank you Jason for being so patience with me today and recommending my food. If you want ti try Indian food. Make Jalwa your first choice. Then go to others and you will be back to Jalwa!!!! I promise you...

  I had the most amazing lunch at Jalwa: Modern Indian Dining. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like VIPs—the service was warm, attentive, and truly made the entire experience feel so special. A big thank you to our server, Nayen, who took such great care of us throughout the meal. We tried several appetizers and food, and every single dish was fantastic. For starters, we had naan, vegetable samosas, and aloo paratha—everything was delicious. My favorite was the spinach chaat—absolutely amazing and perfectly crispy! We also loved the chicken dumplings (momos), aloo tikki with pindl cholley, and the truffle mushrooms, which were all bursting with flavor. For our entrées, my husband had the palak paneer—an amazing, creamy spinach dish with cubes of homemade cottage cheese. I had my all-time favorite, chicken tikka masala, and it was honestly one of the best I’ve ever had! For dessert, we ended on a high note with the kesar pistachio ice cream, which had pralines inside and was beautifully topped with flowers, and the paan masala ice cream topped with gulab jamun—such a unique and delicious experience. If you're looking for incredible food, outstanding service, and a truly memorable dining experience, I highly recommend Jalwa. I’ll definitely be back!

  I have never been to an Indian restaurant before. This restaurant made me realize how foolish that is. Jalwa is an absolutely delicious establishment. You are felt welcomed the second you walk in. Staff is so kind and caring to your needs. Feel free to ask any questions because they will all be answered. I know next to nothing about Indian food, but I know good food when I taste it - this is straight up great food. Such complex flavors, way beyond what I am used to. This might be my first time dining at an Indian restaurant, but I promise it won’t be my last.
