Food was very good.. service was good but the atmosphere is awesome. The wine was very good, there is a decent selection of brew. The mixed drink menu was nice but the old fashioned I had was so watered down I couldn't taste the bourbon. I would definitely go back for the food and wine. Going to go back and try it again so an update may be coming. We will see.

I need to start off by saying, I never had a bad meal here when I lived in NJ. You can have meals that are so good that you are willing to overlook poor service; however, the last experience I had here was so bad, I will never come here again. From what I understand, this interaction was with the manager of the establishment, not the owner. The manager is still a representative of the ownership. While he may be capable in other aspects of his role, he should not be customer‑facing. My step father recently passed away. We took my mother to the funeral home to make arrangements, and the discussion about the luncheon came up. The owner recommended Italian Affair, and I vouched for them as well. The funeral director called them and then said to us that The Italian Affair would call us the next day so we can go over the particulars since it was already close to 4:30pm at this point. Next day comes around and we are running errands and by late afternoon my mother realized they never called, so she called them. The manager picked up, my mother kindly introduced herself, and with an agitated tone the manager said something along the lines of, "Signora, I waited all day for you yesterday." Now please keep in mind that we didn't get to the funeral home until 3pm, and the funeral director didn't even call The Italian Affair until about 4pm, so waiting "all day" is a bit of an embellishment. My mother said that we were told to expect a call the next day, to which his response was that the funeral director would have never told her that because he knows how it works, etc. For the sake of moving on my mother told him that we were available now to stop in and he was fine with that. We walked in and the manager was at the front desk. My mother politely introduced herself. The manager hardly acknowledged her and asked, "Ok, so you were looking for Saturday at 1pm?" My mother confirmed, he looked at his book and said with a cocky tone, "the only way that will work is if your people are out of here by 4pm." It’s often the small courtesies that matter most, especially in situations like this. He knew this luncheon was for a funeral. My mother had just lost her husband and was in the middle of planning a viewing, making decisions about final arrangements, and contacting insurance companies, family members, and utility companies— all while still processing her loss. The last thing we needed was rudeness from the person responsible for hosting a gathering meant to allow friends and family to say their final goodbyes. Not once did he offer even the most basic courtesy, such as “I’m sorry for your loss.” That simple acknowledgment would have made a significant difference. Instead, he chose to interact with a noticeable chip on his shoulder. So, we left and went elsewhere. Because of this experience, I will not return to this restaurant as long as this individual remains the manager. We have shared our experience with friends and family who were regular customers and who have since decided to take their business elsewhere. Others have told us they know exactly who we are referring to and that this kind of rude, unprofessional behavior is typical of him. That is incredibly disappointing for a place we once spoke so highly of.

Tried for the first time tonight. Food was awful. The house salad was nothing more than some old greens and shredded carrots drenched in oil. Chicken noodle soup had no noodles, no vegetables, and over cooked chicken. Chicken Alfredo, sauce was completely tasteless and the chicken tasted like it was either boiled or came pre cooked out of a bag. Blackened filet tip risotta, risotta was undercooked and wet instead of creamy, the blackened filet tips also tasted like ir was either boiled or came out of pre made bag. The server was OK, not friendly but not rude either. Just there to do a job which he did. I highly recommend driving straight on by to terra nova. The prices are slightly higher but the quality of food is much much better.

Hey, I came here with a friend a few days ago and the service didn't sit right with me. We walked in and weren't greeted what so ever we were awkwardly staring till we saw someone standing behind the counter, I said hey and told them about this clipp I had ahead of time, because I'm not used to using clipps, and he was very disrespectful and made remarks about it, it was more the tone he spoke to us with that bothered me. We then were waiting for him to seat us and walked in front of him, and then he finally started walking and in the middle of walking he was like do you want to be seated, and my friend was like yeah we want to be seated, and then when we got to the table he put the menus down and said is there a problem and then walked away without offering us water or anything. We just walked up out the store and left. I don't know if it's because we seemed young or because I was gay or she was black, but he definitely was judging us for no reason. It was creepily quiet too there, we were like the only ones at the time we went. And when we walked out and sat in my friends car he was staring at us through the door and other people were staring at us from there too. Who knows but it was so disrespectful. I don't like writing bad reviews, but that was just disrespectful, we had money, we were hungry, we were very respectful and I spoke in a calm voice yet he was raising his voice at us. I don't care what people say about this place, if they are gonna let this stuff slide in the workplace then they are going to be loosing customers. Because who treats people like that?
