Our last visit here last week was our last visit to this restaurant ever. Never in my life have I left a $0 tip, so that was a first.
We have been in Fort Lee for more than 4 years now, living less than a mile away, within walking distance. We have been at City Perch many times. For dining, it has always been hit or miss, but bar is usually good for drinks in the evening. One time we were here for brunch and there was a long curly hair in my salmon popover. Gross, but it was comped, handled exactly as it should have been.
They have long times to get service and get your food. Understandable especially when staff is limited. I have taken this into account with my review. The issue was I ordered lobster mac and cheese. Dish is $32. It came out and I thought I was losing my mind. There was no lobster in it. Nuts right? I talked to the manager and he brought it back to the kitchen to remake it. By the time it was entirely remade, everyone else had finished eating. Our server told us she would take care of it after the fact, which I interpreted as comping the item. Because at that point, what else is there to take care of? Went to pay and it was still on the bill. There is really nothing left to say to management or the server at this point. It should not have been my responsibility especially after the server told us she would take care of it, to ask them to remove the item. Yes, the item was served as is, but the time and inconvenience...and honestly the ridiculousness of serving lobster mac and cheese...without lobster...and not expecting someone to leave a negative review without comping the item on the bill...I did not want to spend any more time there. Paid and left.
Perhaps management has changed recently, as you can see in the most recent reviews, customers are having a lot of negative experiences.

I visited last Sunday to enjoy the Breakfast with Santa brunch with two of my girls friends. This was a big deal for me because I had experience to losses and I was not in the Christmas spirit at all. I was pleasantly surprised that I had an amazing time. Our server, Jayleen was attentive, personable, and hilarious.
The buffet offered so many premiums options from a turkey carving station, prime rib, oysters, French toast, omelettes made to order, and so much more. The buffet was fresh and tasty. Staff members were friendly and willing to go above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was enjoyable. I’ll give a special shout out to Chef Marcus and his culinary team. He personally came to make sure we enjoyed our meal and the culinary staff was so warm and ready to serve.
I chatted with the manager, Jason, before knowing he was the manager while he added pearl-adorned toothpicks to the raw bar. When I spoke with him at the end of my meal to share my satisfaction with my meal and service, he spoke with us and offered us a complimentary service since we were waiting for a bit for our picture with Santa. Finally, I spoke with the general manager, Victor, who stopped down to ensure customers had their pictures with Santa as advertised for the brunch.
Overall, the brunch and the service was excellent! I will be back again!

I am extremely disappointed with my Thanksgiving experience at City Perch Kitchen & Bar in Fort Lee. I tried making a reservation online with no luck, and when I called the restaurant multiple times, no one ever answered. I ended up going in person around 1 PM to make a same-day reservation for 6 PM. I was told I had to prepay over $400 before they would even book the table.
After paying, I asked if I could at least see the buffet setup and was told no. When my family and I arrived for our reservation, we were seated at a wobbly, uneven table, and no one greeted us or took drink orders. We had to flag down a waiter just to get water and to ask how the buffet worked.
When we went up to get food, most of the buffet items were gone. We asked the kitchen if more food was coming out and they said no. The waiter confirmed the same. A manager eventually told us the buffet was finished and that we also couldn’t order anything from their regular menu—even though our reservation time was well before closing.
This was completely unacceptable. We paid a large amount of money for a holiday meal and ended up leaving hungry and going to McDonald’s. City Perch ruined our family’s Thanksgiving, and I am beyond disappointed with the service, communication, and lack of accountability.
I didn’t dine in at this restaurant, but I approached the welcome desk because I wanted to get my parking ticket validated. I mistakenly thought I needed someone to stamp it after seeing a movie at iPIC.
There was a lady at the welcome desk helping someone with their payment, and several guests were standing behind me waiting to be seated. However, the Asian lady at the desk (I’m Asian as well, so this is not meant as a racial comment) never even looked at me to see if I needed assistance. She continued helping the person in front of me and acknowledged the people behind me, but she completely ignored me.
She treated me as if I were invisible—probably assuming that since I didn’t have a reservation, there was no reason to interact with me.
However, skipping me only among the people standing in line was simply an act of ignorance, which was unacceptable and rude.
Before this unpleasant interaction, I had actually been considering dining here one day with my family for a special occasion because the décor looked charming and the food seemed delicious. Unfortunately, that thought disappeared entirely after being treated so poorly. I will never include this restaurant on my list again because of that experience.
I’m sure you will continue to have many customers and make plenty of profit without me, but please know that you lost a potential customer due to a lack of proper training for your employee.
It was a disappointing end to what had been a beautiful Thanksgiving Day movie outing.
