That said, I went to the counter to order a latte, with the girl STANDING AT THE REGISTER. She didn’t notice me because she was scrolling on her phone, but I was standing 2 feet away from her so surely she would eventually notice a customer standing right in front of her, right? I decided not to say anything and see just how long it would take her to see I was standing there. After 5 minutes of watching her mindlessly scroll on her phone, oblivious to the rest of the world, I left. Life is too short.
