The wait wasn't very long, it was raining so you couldn't really check the property out. I work in a restaurant so my opinions and views are based off of a customer service perspective. We did see the giant koi which was cool. Not very apparent where the front of the restaurant is due to all the "attractions", which none were available anyways. We ended up going through the back where a private party was held, and walking all the way through to the front. No one offered guidance on where to go to be seated either till I asked. The hostess never greeted us, again it was not apparent where to stand to get service. We watched other people have the exact same trouble. We were seated about 20 minutes later, again the hostess seemed annoyed I wasn't in the right place to be seated, like I was supposed to know. The server was ok. My husband and son had to ask for refills a few times which never feels like good service no matter where you go. The salad bar had a leak from the raining roof right on it, which is gross. It was fresh cheap bagged iceburg lettuce mix. The ribeyes were overpriced and I'm pretty sure their secret marinade is some sort of Italian dressing. When I first started cooking in my early 20s I did that too and it was almost exactly the same flavor. The potatoes didn't come with real butter, which if I had known they use oils (palm, vegetable and soy), to cook their steaks and season their food, I would have passed immediately. The potato was bland and the fake butter didn't melt because it was brought it after my food had arrived. The mac and cheese was bland and the mash potatoes did not come with the gravy it was supposed to. They charge extra for veggies unless it's green beans and I can only imagine how bland those would have been seeing the majority of our food was exactly that. My husband's burger was not good and was loaded with ketand mustard. He said the meat was obviously frozen and then cooked till gray. I work in a steakhouse and was thoroughly disappointed in the prices and the flavor, or lack there of, and the upcharges for everything at a time when you attractions aren't even available to guests. Maybe take that extra money and fix the roof. At my steakhouse a 15ozs ribeye is the same price as the giant, which I believe we were told is 10ozs, and our 20oz bone in is $36. We are about an hour and a half away from this establishment in a very high tourists area for reference. I guess the reviews are from locals and people with low expectations for dining and based off the experience. For over $100 I would like to enjoy my food and feel like it was worth it. 3 people ate at that check total and we didn't even get the most expensive menu items. Oh don't forget the 4% add on to the check, highest I've seen yet, for paying by card. The biggest problem and disappointment was being charged for "river water". I've been to fine dining restaurants in many states being military and never have I been charged for tap water. It is laughable at best. For this reason, attractions or not, we will never come back to this joke of an establishment. We don't order water to be cheap, we order it because that's primarily what we drink. If I had know they charge for water I probably would not have ordered a drink for my toddler or me. What a joke.

Deadwood in Bear Grass, NC is truly a hidden gem in Martin County. If you’re not local, you might drive right past it and never know what’s tucked away there. I remember hearing about it years ago but had never visited. A friend hosted an event there a couple of years ago, and I was amazed at how beautifully it was decorated—this was right after Christmas, and the holiday décor was still up and absolutely stunning. When I returned again recently, I noticed even more details that make this place special. From the outside, it leaves you curious, but once you cross the little wooden bridge, it opens into a space that really leaves you in awe. There’s a train you can ride, charming outdoor seating areas, lights and decorations throughout, and a peaceful little pond that adds to the atmosphere. There’s also a cozy coffee bar and meeting space that’s perfect for brunch or small gatherings, along with the main restaurant that can accommodate groups of all sizes. The salad bar is excellent with plenty of fresh options to choose from, and the food has been consistently delicious. The brisket and baked chicken are finger-licking good! This was actually my first time getting the brisket because it tends to sell out quickly—and now I understand why. Everything I’ve tried here has been great so far. The wait staff are friendly, and the hostess at checkout is especially sweet. She keeps little candies at the front and encourages guests to grab a handful on their way out, which is such a simple but thoughtful touch. It was a bit cool inside during my visit, but the fireplace adds a nice cozy feel. Overall, every experience I’ve had here has been pleasant, and I’ll definitely be back again. This is one of those special places you almost want to keep a secret—but it’s too good not to share.

I grew up going to Deadwood with my family nearly everytime we visited my grandmother in Bear Grass. Every time we went it felt like there was something new to do from putt putt, riding the train, arcade games, playground, and even a roller coaster. The food is always fantastic and there is a great salad bar option. I highly recommend going to Deadwood and look forward to my next visit!

After looking up restaurants for our drive down from VA to Crystal Coast Nc we came across this restaurant. We were stunned to see this quirky place that has a theme restaurant and on top of that a 4.6 rating with nearly 1 300 reviews. I have to say.. reviews were correct. For a Saturday at 1pm the place was very busy but we were seated quickly and received our beverages. The server was very helpful with suggestions because of our food restrictions. However, we decided to order 4 appetizers and the were fresh and served hot. Also, the staff worked as a team not just the server. Clearing the plates and bringing additional beverages were great. Parking was tight but they were busy... and the cool quirky atmosphere was beyond great. This place was full of children adventuring around. We will be making this a stop in the future. Great job team!
