Overall I’m thrilled to have this new Foodlion location here! And it’s a nice store, with a bit more variety in product than some of the older stores nearby. And usually the customer service is good too, or great (the cashiers usually offer my little girls stickers and chat with us). However- the customer service on Thanksgiving Eve was AWFUL. I work in a food industry job myself, and we work a lot of hours and we deal with tons of people, and if you’ve ever done it, you’d know, employees in the food industry have to be happy and kind all the time…it’s customer service!! So for me, Thanksgiving Eve was the only time I had to shop, or I’d have done so earlier. It’s chaotic right before the holiday, employees are getting bombarded by loads of customers and crazy questions, and dealing with stock issues. I get that and appreciate that. But in my visit, we had the girls with us, and we used the self checkout and waited to use the CASH machine, which apparently threw off the flow of other customers and the young employee overseeing our line and the registers/scanners was annoyed with us from the start. Once we get to use the cash and card machine, one of two, out of 6ish machines total, my older daughter who is sometimes hyperactive wanted to scan and do the grocery bagging. Yes it would have moved the line along faster if I did it myself, but it’s a holiday (special time for her), it was a good opportunity for a learning opportunity as every moment should be, plus I was spending time with my child, bonding, and we waited for our turn to use the machine just like everyone else, and we waited longer because the guy before us really struggled to get the codes for his produce into the machine, and was not assisted by the oversight clerk…which could have sped up things, too… so almost immediately the clerk comes over to question our integrity because my child is doing it fast and a little reckless (and I told her hey calm down and take it slower and make sure you see one scan at a time, etc). Then the clerk comes over more than twice to check the footage of the camera after this, and I kindly reassured her that I am watching and making sure it is all scanned right, because just like the store doesn’t want to loose money I too don’t want to overpay if we over scan or lean on the scale or enters the wrong codes. And then we had an orange that wasn’t in the system apparently, we didn’t know the price, and it 100 percent was not a navel orange but the other code said error over and over. The clerk got her manager to check and after 15 mins she doesn’t have an answer and tells the clerk “just give it to them on us.” The clerk decided to type $1.50 for the two oranges of her own accord. And then when I also asked for her to recheck the weight of a radicchio she acted like I was such an imposition, but when we did review the scale weight it was clearly wrong by several dollars because my daughter leaned on it and the clerk rudely scoffed at me when I said “I knew that was way too much for a radicchio. “ Ma’am, you just made up a price for our oranges, and were constantly reviewing our camera to make sure we didn’t steal, and we’re an imposition because we asked for a review for our sake too?? All the time, while we’re at the self checkout, the clerk never says hi or how are you, and definitely did not offer the other two very young children with me any stickers. And guess what? My middle child even asked why they forgot our stickers because the standard of customer service here is usually so different even she noticed it!! It just was not a fun experience, and we usually go here once a week. Disappointed, to say the least. A smile and some kindness goes a long way, and I was not rude to this employee, and would have gladly interacted with her in a nice chat if she hadn’t been so snub like speaking to her was a chore. By the way, only two registers with actual “speaking humans” were open; one was for 12 items or less if I recall right, and even if she’s working a “self checkout” line, she should still be customer service focused.

I lost my receipt that was worth $20 in the shopping promotion. They got me the savings loaded onto my map card within 2 days of calling them about it. It may have been there sooner, but I didn't check.

Be ready to be accosted by management and accused of theft using their wage stealing self check outs. Do yourself a favor, drive a bit further to Mooresville and avoid the ignorance that's rampant.
