- JRJulie Rivera1 day ago1.0After purchasing the chicken, I opened it at home and immediately noticed a terrible odor, indicating the product had spoiled. Because the smell was so strong and the chicken was clearly unusable, I disposed of it right away. I then returned to the store with my receipt to request a refund. When I explained the situation to the manager, including that the chicken had already been thrown away due to the smell and condition, I was told I could not receive a refund unless I brought the product back to the store. This was frustrating, especially since the product was clearly unsafe to use and had already been discarded for that reason. As requested, I went back home, retrieved the spoiled chicken from the garbage, bagged it, and returned to the store a second time. What made this even more frustrating is that when I returned, the manager did not scan or inspect anything from the bag and simply processed the refund using my receipt alone. This confirmed that bringing the spoiled product back was unnecessary. The refund amount was only approximately $15, and I had every intention of using that refund to purchase replacement chicken from your store. Instead, after this experience, I chose to take my business elsewhere and purchased replacement chicken from Harris Teeter. I hope you will review this policy and provide better guidance to store management when handling situations involving spoiled or unsafe food products.
