The portions are small and ungenerous, and the food doesn’t justify the price. I’ve had bad experiences ordering through their apps, as they barely fill my sandwich.

✌🏾Subway: Never Again
Went in to purchase a drink on my break as I was working as a technician next door. Walked in and a Middle Eastern guy holding a trashbag tried to take my order at the trashcan I said, “No thanks I’m ok just grabbing a drink.” I tried walking to drink cooler to the left, he physically got in front of me with his arm out and kept saying, “What What” so I asked, “Do you take your orders at the trashcan now?” He replied that he did. I left. We were still on break and my co worker said, “You should go in there and ask for the manager and just tell them what happened” I was hesitant. Then I saw 2 of my co workers, of a less melanated complexion I hate to say, wearing exactly what I was wearing, they walked right in to cooler no obstruction from the trash guy, brought their drinks to counter and it was normal. So I thought let me try this again it was a blazing hot day in mid September we’d just unloaded a truck right outside Subway on the corner and my coffee had spilled from being under the lift gate of truck so I had a coffee cup in hand when I walked in. I walked up to counter nobody was there, then emerging from the back area came the trash guy, and another large guy. Thankfully I began recording video on my phone. I asked for the manager, and like the Somali pirate scene from Captain Phillips the trash guy says, “Look Me, I am Manager, NOW WHAT!?!” And I told him those are my coworkers who just left and I just wanted to purchase a drink and asked what was purpose of denying me service before? Now if he just said, “There is big black man who I thought was you who has stole so I was scared” I would have said fair but that’s not me, instead he just kept saying “NOW WHAT?!? Now WHAT!?!” i said an apology or acknowledgment would be great. Keep in mind I’ve come to this location since 2011 and work nearby often and as a group (AV Technician) we normally go to subway when working downtown Ral. And when they saw my camera was rolling the larger guy tried scaring me with little jumping and jerking motions like he was going to grab my phone from over the counter. Then they started recording me and laughing and saying “What is this!?! Now what!?!” Incessantly. I couldn’t help but laugh which upset them more. I plainly told them they were allowing my coworkers in but not me. They yelled for me to “NOW WHAT GET OUT!?!” So I left. For good. I’ll post the video if they try some denial here but I can say it doesn’t put them in the best light at all so I’d rather not. The apology would have been the easiest but they just wanted to yell at a tall guy like me that day. I can say it was quite prejudiced meaning they judged me immediately because all my white co workers had no issue purchasing and walking about the store. Only me. I grew up in America and I love America and I love the triangle but it reminded me of why I moved to Chapel Hill years ago because it may be ultra progressive there but indeed this wouldn’t have happened. Hell even if he said, “You are big black man I no trust you” I would have laughed and said alright I get it, but the “Subway with Threatening Aura” vibe was not good. God bless the workers there, allow them to know Peace. And to recognize if someone has work boots and a c wrench and they may not be doing… whatever they thought I was trying to do… steal soda??? 🥤 😝
Ps: I had already jokingly said a month before at a different location that I was done w Subway after they botched my order and refused to resolve it then closed like 10 mins early when my friend tried to go in there they locked doors that was frustrating but atleast we got the food even if it was incorrect order lol.
My friend said: Two stars ⭐️ ⭐️ just so you know I put thought in to it, the one star is for the memories made there since working downtown in 2011.
