Another excellent dinner! Amrut’s owner is also the chef, and this new Indian restaurant shows his talents! I had Tikka Masala that was the best I’ve ever had; spicy with a touch of sweet, and out of this world. My date had their lamb shank, tender to truly falling off the bone and full of spices. And their garlic naan😘! A great addition to our downtown dining scene, and sure to make a Best Of list this coming year. AND free parking in the Municipal lot right across Martin St.

We were visiting from out of town and happened upon Amrut, and we’re so glad we did! The food was absolutely delicious! It was full of flavor and beautifully prepared. Every bite was amazing. Our server was friendly, welcoming and accommodating. He helped me decide exactly what to order (Dravidian Tikka Dosa,) which made the experience even better.
If you’re looking for incredible Indian food and great service, Amrut is a must-visit. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town!

We had a very disappointing Valentine’s Day experience at this restaurant. My wife, our infant son, and I were really looking forward to a special evening, but unfortunately it did not go as expected.
We arrived about 25 minutes late to our reservation. While I was parking the car, my wife and son went inside. The manager initially denied us a table and said they could not accommodate us because we were late. Traveling with a child can be challenging, and we hoped for a little understanding. After I spoke with the manager and assured him that we would be quick, he finally agreed to seat us, but only on the condition that we finish within 30 minutes. We accepted and requested that food be served quickly so we could respect that timeline.
However, the service was extremely slow. It took almost an hour for all the courses to be served. This made it impossible for us to finish in the time we promised. The complimentary wine that was included in the Valentine’s menu was never served with our meal. We had to ask 4–5 times about it, and only after we finished eating were we given the wine to go. Meanwhile, other tables received their wine on time and were properly attended to.
Before we even received our dessert, we were asked to pay the bill. We understood their concern about time, but the delay was due to slow service, not us. We also noticed that couples at nearby tables were offered extra dessert options that were not part of the Valentine’s menu, while we were not. We even had to request plain rice, which should have come with the main course.
After finishing our food, no one came to assist us with payment, so I had to go to the front myself. Even then, we still had not received the red wine. When I asked again, the manager told staff to collect payment first and give the wine later.
To make matters worse, we were never greeted warmly, nor were we thanked for visiting. This was our first time trying this restaurant, and sadly it will be our last. We would not recommend this place to others, especially families with children. A special occasion like Valentine’s Day should feel welcoming and memorable, but this experience was quite the opposite.

Downtown Raleigh needed a place like Amrut! My boyfriend and I made a reservation for Valentine’s Day and were surprised to find out about the prefix menu - $100 total to try almost all of the dishes and a complimentary bottle of wine! The food was so flavorful and came out quickly. Our server Marlon was great and the Valentine’s decor was really nice. We recommend sitting upstairs for a more intimate experience. We’re excited to eat our leftovers!

I got the Salmon Tandoor and it was absolutely phenomenal! The orange Tandoori sauce it was served with was divine; wonderfully savory with a hint of sweetness, I really couldn't get enough of it. I was also very impressed with the amount of salmon I got for the price; I definitely hit (and probably exceeded) my minimum protein requirement of 50g with this dish! The fact that it's carb-free also makes it an excellent choice for someone on a keto diet.
Aishwar was very kind, attentive, and greeted me as soon as I came in. The atmosphere is also excellent! Very calm and elegant. I'll certainly be coming back here! Highly recommend this place!
