This was a good store, but stopping by on our way home was a mistake! While trying not to eat fast food we purchased 2× 5$ sandwiches that made us sick i should have left the food sitting and not purchased anything since we were being watched and by all the employees whom had no customers but made us feel very uncomfortable as if were going to take the nasty food and put it into out 300$ coats or my versace purse.Crazy work this place must be high crime but not looking the part and clearly having money to make this purchase we couldn't figure out why we were being stalked with 15$ worth of food to ring up. Losing me as a customer not a big deal but since were kin to everyone in Burke co. I will make sure word gets thru my family of this uncomfortable nasty food experience. Probably be outta business next b time we are in Morganton area

Food Safety Concerns-Deli Hot Bar:
Over the past three nights, I have had repeated and very disturbing issues with the deli hot bar at this Food Lion location.
I purchase rotisserie chicken (for my pets) and potato wedges for myself. On Tuesday, I noticed a man bending down very close to the hot food display. I did buy wedges and a chicken that night, though it already seemed questionable.
On Wednesday, the situation was much worse. Several rotisserie chicken containers appeared to have been tampered with. Some bags were open, bones were inside, and it was obvious that pieces of chicken had been eaten. The potato wedges were also opened, yet they were still being sold for full price, even though there were only three or four wedges left. Clearly, someone had removed food from these containers.
I finally found one chicken that a deli employee told me was "okay". However, when I got to the register, I noticed the barcode label (which also keeps the lid sealed) was missing. I went back to the deli and expressed my concern. I was reassured it was fine, so I purchased it. When I got home and opened it, the legs had already been eaten off of.
On Thursday, I returned to speak with management. The employee I spoke with admitted this is an ongoing problem. She stated that they frequently find chicken meals hidden in aisles with food missing. When I asked what happens to those items, she told me they are sometimes put back on the hot bar for customers to buy.
This is absolutely unacceptable and disgusting. Customers have no way of knowing who has touched, eaten, or tampered with this food. This is a serious food safety and health issue. I have already stopped shopping at another Food Lion in the same city due to similar problems. I was told that homeless individuals were tampering with hot bar food at the other location and that items were still being returned to the shelf.
Food Lion needs to take immediate action to address this. Hot bar food that has been handled, opened, or removed from the display should NEVER be resold. Until this issue is properly handled, I can't trust the safety of the food being sold here.

I placed a deli tray order that was written down and acknowledged by the deli. I was told to pick it up by noon on Saturday. I arrived at noon and was told that they had not made my order. It was for an important family event, and now I need to try to find something else at the last minute. This is very poor service!
