- RSRyan StimpertSep 26, 20252.0We quit going to this Papa Johns over a year ago because the quality was POOR, there were numerous times where toppings were non existent even though we paid for them and if you didn't order extra cheese you frequently ran the risk of cheese not covering the entire pizza. We've been EXTREMELY happy with Hunt Brothers pizza in the Marathon gas station next to the Asheville airport. Since it's been over a year we thought we'd try Papa Johns again, ordered double cheese to be safe. The family member that picked up the pizza was in a hurry and forgot to check the pizza before leaving. Once opened at home I couldn't believe it, even if we had NOT ordered double cheese I still would've taken it back. Drove 10in back to the store and yes they refunded and weren't rude, but I certainly didn't get an apology. The pizza was unedible unless you prefer pizza with no cheese, it was bad, they asked if I wanted the pizza after the refund and I said no, I wouldn't have drove the 10 min back to the store at 8pm at night if I could have ate it, for almost $15 it was pathetic! Point is, the 3.3 out of 5 rating is above the 2 stars I gave it, but in the totality of things, obviously this isn't something ownership and management are that concerned with since it's been occurring at this Papa John for at least 2 yrs with our experience. Once more competition is built in Mills River this place will HAVE to change, right now they don't have to and obviously ownership is taking advantage of that. Save yourself the hassle and money and just go to Hunt Brothers, they do NOT cheat you on toppings and you NEVER have to ask for extra cheese as they give you ample regular cheese. Large pizza there is $12.99 no matter one topping or 10 toppings, GREAT TASTE!
