Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn't help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we're still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.

WhattaFilthy! This was my first experience trying Whataburger, and it will definitely be my last. I do not enjoy eating in a filthy restaurant, nor listening to a manager shouting orders at employees or boasting about how many people she has sent home during her shift. I was told they were “overstaffed” by the very pleasant woman who took my order, yet the restaurant was full of unmotivated employees. One employee started sweeping and simply stopped partial credit for trying, but execution matters and not meaning going to cut up in the kitchen. Despite being supposedly overstaffed, when my food was brought out, the employee chose to cut the task short to chat with a coworker who was on break rather than delivering food, employees 1st and customers 2nd! The entire atmosphere felt disorganized and toxic. This location appears to be struggling with management and team cohesion, and frankly, it should not have opened in this condition. Do not recommend!

Terribly slow service! Got in the drive thru line at 1:30pm and didn’t pull out until 3pm. Only stayed in line because it was my husband’s birthday lunch request. When I finally got to the window. Card machine was down so employee had to walk through the store to use another. Then was told they had no tea. All orders had tea so had to issue a refund. I was then asked to pull up to wait more. Order was missing items so had to wait again. Took 20 minutes from the time I paid to get my full order. Absolutely ridiculous for fast food!

TL;DR/Edit: when this location first opened it got so heavily swarmed with business that it was literally impossible to properly serve everyone in a reasonable amount of time. The honeymoon phase is over, it's now business as usual for them, and the food is great! Old review: This whataburger location is the greatest example I've ever seen of suffering from success. The food is amazing, the people are great, the prices are awesome. But if you show up during the lunch rush, there are physically not enough seats, not enough room in the drive through, and not enough people in the kitchen to serve the sheer volume of people trying to stuff their faces with a whataburger. I've never seen the employees NOT stressed because the menu and food is so good EVERYBODY is trying to buy some and this location simply cannot keep up with the demand. It makes me feel guilty for buying from here because I know I'm contributing to the problem.

There was so much excitement in the area when Whataburger opened. So trying to get through the crowds has been difficult. So we came at 6:30 in the morning! We were greeted very cheerfully with a story about New Year's Eve revelry. The place was clean and bright. The bacon and cheese taquito was solid but the tortilla was a tad overdone. Companion said the gravy biscuit was ok - he isn't ever effusive with preaise or condemnation so who knows. It did look like a proper biscuit and the gravy was just loaded with sausage. The hash brown sticks were a bit overdone as well. Overall good sold fare available 24 hours.
