  This was my first grocery pickup experience at any Food Lion. I usually shop Walmart, but recently discovered I can save a lot by switching to Food Lion. I always have to do grocery pickup because I live in a rural town and it takes me an hour round trip just driving to any grocery store and I have a lot going on in my life (as I’m sure you all can relate), so my time is very limited - this makes grocery pickup a lifesaver. I chose my pickup time from 8:00pm-9:00pm because I had to pick my stepdaughter up from work at 9:00. There was also a 9:00pm-10:00pm slot available, but I figured I’d pick her up then go get the groceries and if I was a few minutes late it would be okay because it wasn’t the last pickup time available. I get notified at 7:43 that my order was ready. I was driving home from picking up dinner, which I had planned to drop off at home and then pick up my stepdaughter from her job near our house and we’d then go pick up the grocery order. Well, at 8:29pm Food Lion called my stepdaughter (I used her account to order the groceries because for some reason the app won’t let me sign up with my phone number - it must be associated with an MVP card I had 10+ years ago and I have no clue what email it’s connected to). My stepdaughter was at work, but she answered anyway. She said they sounded very irritated and asked if she was on her way to get the groceries. She explained I had placed the order and would be on my way soon (again, it was only 8:29pm and my pickup time was from 8-9). The girl on the phone huffed and told my stepdaughter, “I get off at 9 so if she could be here by then that’d be great.” My stepdaughter called me and told me so we decided I’d go get the groceries first and then come pick her up. I arrived at Food Lion at 8:57pm and I wasn’t sure where to park (my first time). It’s weird that the pickup parking spots are halfway across the parking lot - that’s a poor design. It’s not fair to staff - it wastes time and efficiency for employees to have to walk that far. If anyone from corporate sees this, please move the pickup closer…all your competitors do it this way for a reason. I called the number on the sign and let them know I was there. The girl who answered the phone was super sweet. She’s the only reason I gave this 2 stars instead of 1. Her customer service was great! The girl who brought out my groceries was a different person (I could tell by the voice). I didn’t catch her name - she had curly brown hair. She immediately approached me with a disgusted look on her face and said “Just so you know, all of our grocery orders have to be picked up by 8:30 at the latest.” It was her tone that really got me - she sounded like she was a parent scolding a child. I politely replied “Oh, well that’s weird because my pickup time was 8:00-9:00 and there was even a 9:00-10:00 available.” Her eyes got really big like that was just the most outrageous thing she’d heard in her entire life. She said “Well, I don’t know why it said that because it should not!” I apologized, but what I really wanted to say is it’s not my fault and with this being my first experience doing grocery pickup with your company you are no brand ambassador, that’s for sure! Needless to say, I spend about $1,000/month on groceries and I think I’ll be taking my business to the Food Lion in King from now on…hopefully I don’t accidentally annoy them as I have Lewisville. To the chick on the phone - you’re too good for this place! PS - Peep the screenshot - there IS a 9:00pm-10:00pm pickup time available. If it shouldn’t be there someone should remove it. 🤷‍♀️

  The employees were working hard handling customers getting ready for a winter storm. They were friendly and courteous.

  I’ve been going to this Food Lion for as long as it’s been there. Rarely have I received good customer service. This morning the store was full of employees, many of whom I passed in the aisles. NONE of them looked at me nor spoke to me. When I arrived at the checkout, the cashier was in a convo with another employee and never spoke to me until she handed me the receipt. Miserable shopping experience, very unwelcoming.

  Grocery store is too small to be in a town like yadkinville whose population is growing exponentially

  The cashier, Elizabeth, was fast and friendly. She made my day! Excellent job! All the staff are friendly and helpful.
