JK’s Restaurant in Kill Devil Hills, Milepost 9, is the place for steak on the Outer Banks, serving only the finest cuts, aged in-house, and hand-carved by our in-house butcher. Our beef and signature ribs are sourced exclusively from the Midwest, known for superior marbling, tenderness, and flavor.
We proudly serve fresh, locally sourced seafood, often brought in straight from the docks by friends and fishermen we’ve known for years. Our chicken is free-range, and every dish is prepared over our one-of-a-kind, cast-iron, wood-fired mesquite grill, delivering a bold, unforgettable flavor.
All entrées include the fresh vegetable of the day and your choice of rice pilaf or our signature mashed potatoes. Finish your meal with one of our house-made desserts, crafted fresh daily.
Pair your dinner with a drink from our full-service bar featuring premium cocktails, local and imported beer, and an extensive wine list. Our wine program honors JK’s long-standing tradition of offering exceptional selections at every price point, because a great bottle should always have a place at the table.
Many customers praised the steaks as excellent and cooked to perfection, while others found certain dishes, like ribs and chicken, to be dry or lacking flavor.
Service Experience
Service received mixed reviews; some customers highlighted exceptional service, while others reported inattentive or rude staff.
Pricing Concerns
Several reviews mentioned that the prices were high, with some feeling that the quality did not justify the cost.

For our group of four our night meant for remembrance and quiet celebration became nothing more than a disappointing and distressing experience. This was the last place my daughter ate with her father before my husband passed, and the experience was shockingly bad and unacceptable. My daughter ordered the very expensive steak that came out practically raw — still “mooing” — it was supposed to be medium and when we asked for it to be fixed, I was shocked that the server brought it back to the table in even worse condition. It was blacked and burnt to a crisp it felt less like a mistake and more like an intentional disregard for our request. For a restaurant charging premium prices, the lack of care in both the kitchen and the service was astonishing. What should have been a meaningful final meal became a memory defined by careless cooking and is now remembered for all the wrong reasons. I expected far better. She left hungry. Instead of enjoying the evening we had planned, we ended up scrambling to find somewhere suitable for her to eat, and the whole night was ultimately ruined. I reached out privately in hopes of resolving this quietly, but I never received a reply, which made the experience feel even more dismissive. After a night that should have meant so much more, we will not be returning.

Wow wow wow. I can’t express enough how phenomenal this restaurant is. My husband and I just visited for our honeymoon and the experience from top to bottom was incredible. The host was so warm and inviting, the atmosphere was quiet and great music was playing in the background, our server Emily was a sweetheart and let us take our time with our meal. For starters the bread was the best bread we have ever had, ever had Smokey bread? We haven’t until tonight and it was the best bread we have ever tasted. The Caesar salad was great. Our steak entrees were everything. And the apple cobbler blew us away. I can’t say enough good things about this place. Thank you JK for giving us an unforgettable dining experience!!!

The restaurant states on the website they don't take reservations. However at 5:06 on February 14th, a sign is posted they are full for the evening. Either you do take reservations or you don't. It is bad business to say one thing and you go against the posted information. We planned this meal and came down especially for the first time to visit. After this we will not ever attempt to visit this restaurant and will no longer buy the rub. This is unacceptable business practices. You never update your website or social media to advise of your change in policy.

They stop seating hours before they even close. Twice now. The one time we went, we spent about $300, but were never trying to go back again.
They don’t want our money. Fine.
