  A great place to shop anytime day or evening. The cashiers are very nice and always ask " did you find everything you were looking for". The store is always clean along with the bathrooms.The employees from the deli, produce, meat department are very helpful in each department. The management and clerks that work customer service are available to help you,one of the daytime management Janet is always on point, Brandy, Cole & Bernie are just awesome to help you. The ones working in the meat department are also helpful especially Michael and the older gentleman, they are fast in getting what you need if it's not on the shelf & if they're out of what you ask for, they'll let you know when the next truck comes in. The main evening/nightshift managers Jason/Tracy always greets people with a smile and is also phenomenal in making sure you've found everything you were looking for and always tells you they appreciate you and tells you to have a great evening. The cashier's Abi,Elijah, Annette and quite a few others are always making sure you found everything you needed. & are very well mannered. I have never encountered a bad experience at our local neighborhood Food Lion at Holden Beach. So cheers to the Holden Beach Food Lion.

  This store routinely has old rotting expired food on the shelf. Be very careful when buying refridgerated products. Check the expiration date. I've bought items here that were 4+ months past the sell by date. And yes, some sell by dates are nonsense BUT when something is so old its covered in mold....thats def not good anymore. Three days ago I was going to get some tabbouleh (its a Middle Eastern salad like dish with fresh herbs and grains) and saw that every container was basically full on mold. Like filled with gray moldy rotting slime and when I looked at the sell by dates they were from way back in September and October....This is a fresh salad that includes chopped tomatoes and fresh parsley. It wasn't one old moldy one it was several deep, as far back as i was willing to look. I pointed it out to an employee who was nearby. He basically shrugged and seemed to not care that rotting rancid food was sitting on the shelf. I'm not exaggerating when I say it looked like gray rotting food from some zombie horror movie. It was still there the next day when I stopped by, so I went to customer service and mentioned it to someone there. I wasn't complaining, just saying hey, you have some bad produce over there. And I felt like he brushed me off. No urgency to fix it at all. I've worked retail, so I get being understaffed and struggling during the holidays. But someone could get sick. I'd never ignore someone saying that food on their shelf was rotten. And this is maybe the 7th time I've seen or accidentally bought rancid food here. I've never had this kind of problem at other stores I frequent. Mistakes happen, but this is a pattern.

  Being the only true grocery store in close proximity to the beach, you might expect this store to be expensive. It's not bad at all. Good prices, friendly staff.

  My wife did a to go order at noon and still wasn’t worked on at almost 9pm. We called and they said they had it getting worked on and would be about 30 minutes. My wife goes to there 30 minutes later for them to tell her it still hasn’t been pulled or started so we canceled the order and will not be going back to the Holden beach foodlion. Poor efforts for a foodlion with designated to go people.

  Rotisserie chickens are a staple in our house. New family size rotisserie chickens that have replaced them are dry, falling apart. Juice in bottom of packaging not pretty and clear as in past. Now dark brown, burnt taste. Called and told from new distributer. Offered to replace. If like one we had today dont want it.Want the old ones back please. Will be buying elsewhere.
