I have lived in this area for over 10 years and have shopped at this Food Lion consistently. Over time, the decline in store operations has become impossible to ignore.
The most persistent issue is chronic out-of-stock inventory. Items that customers buy weekly, consistently, and in high volume are regularly unavailable. This is not an occasional supply chain issue—this is a repeated pattern that reflects serious breakdowns in ordering, forecasting, and management oversight. On top of that, the produce quality is unacceptable. Vegetables are frequently wilted, moldy, or visibly deteriorating inside sealed packaging. Meanwhile, staple items that should never be out of stock repeatedly are.
Checkout operations are another failure point. There are rarely any cashiers open, forcing customers into self-checkout regardless of cart size. This creates constant bottlenecks and poor customer experience.
Even more concerning is the inconsistent and targeted enforcement of self-checkout monitoring practices. One particular attendant routinely applies “paid” stickers to only certain customers’ items while ignoring others entirely. Regardless of intent, the selective nature of this behavior creates the perception of discriminatory treatment and should be investigated immediately by corporate compliance.
Customer service is also severely lacking. If you need lottery services or assistance, expect to stand for 15–20 minutes while multiple employees pass by without acknowledgment or support. That is not a staffing issue it is a culture issue.
The only consistently maintained area of this store is the restroom likely due to proximity to management offices.
This location urgently needs: • Corporate inventory audits
• Management restructuring
• Customer service retraining
• Equity and compliance review
• Staffing reform at checkout
Until those issues are corrected, this store cannot be considered reliable or professionally operated.
You are better off driving an extra 7 to 10 min drive To The next food Lion located either on Raeford road skibo road or if you want one of the top notch food Lions it's located off of rockfish road all within 10 min drive. This one will give you food poisoning with the expired and molded food they sell constantly. Smh.
