My grocery shopping is usually with Food Lion on corner of 150/16. There sales are best n cheaper. My 2nd is Publix in Sherrillsford on hwy 16 it's closer to me n I like there sales n Bakery. I shopped3/29 checking out app 6pm. I was in the store over 1hr. The store was not very busy, I spoke to several employees on the floor stocking(i enjoy engaging, even just..hi, how are you?) I spoke to 1 man in the drink aisle conversation abt prices n me working at 15yrs of age etc).I went to the front and did wait in the line with full service.there was only (1 )of those open. There were NO OTHER opened besides..cking out yourself. There was 1 customer in front of me. A young girl(which she has cked me out abt 1-2 wks ago, she is new).. ive had small talk with her which I prompt her to engage on last 2xs ive been in. I was just in 1wk ago or less and spent 69.00 n abt 2wks ago not with her bill of 280ish. I heard her tell the customer ahead of me that she was abt to get overwelmed.(which meant my cart..filled to the top) i had forgotten my grocery bags so I had grabbed only 2 of the .50 ones to purchased. She asked if I wanted her to use them, I said yes n that those were not mine, I got them from the floor n were .50 a piece I had forgotten to bring mine. She walked over and spoke to another employee.(I thought since she was going to get overwhelmed, absolutely she need to probably let someone know they needed to open another register.?) No other register was ever opened..customers got behind me n left. Noone never came to help her bag. I had to go and get another cart to transfer groceries as she bagged them.i told her she could cram the blue bags full. I tried to small talk but without response.i put every bag she filled into the cart myself to the end even when my transaction was totally completed im still putting bags into my cart, as she starts a new customer. I picked up my drinks held them so she could scan them in my hands. My large snack boxes I put directly under my cart after asking if that was ik..instead of filling 1 bag upon it. No one!!!! Offered to assist her, Noone offered to help me take my cart out...my bill was over 600.00. After all offers, sales, n coupons from my card my bill was 480? I think it was 140.00 of discounts? I also got 60.00 of cash. I almost left but realized I had 4 more bags sitting on the end. Of course I had my empty cart at the register n I went to pull it out of the way for the man purchasing behind me..I said im sorry, he said no problem I got this I will push it out for you. I said thank you so much...I left the store pushing very carefully out of the store...Now, im 66yrs old, im disabled, ive lived here 36years n have shopped here for a long time. This is my primary shopping place. I am so upset with the service. 1-overwelmed?2-no conversation3-no offers of help... The young girl did her job, shes knew n im o.k. with that. But, it was not busy, everyone was in the check yourself out Area. I saw no other staff for help. And I REALLY hate to say this but...at Publix I get engagement from cashiers, im offered always to help me out to the car, always a bagger(for sure with large purchase)....I always decline help to car....but 1 out of 3...someone will be in the parking lot will see me and either offer or start helping me! I will continue shopping foodlion...because I dont blame the cashier, I do question why didnt someone help HER? I shop wkly at food lion in the last 3 wks I have spent over 700.00. During those 3 wks ive shopped publix appr 4xs spending over 200.00.( I like there bakery items to take to SFES for the kids lunches n to send for classes treats). Thank you for your service n for availability to me, but, Im missing the engagement with your employees n the courtesy of help. Jan..mother n raising 3 grandchildren as a senior Citizen.
