My fiancé took me out for my birthday. This is our second time dining with OKU and it only took one time to make this my favorite restaurant . We are greeted at the door and many employees started wishing me happy birthday. As we were seated, Anastasia our waitress introduced herself. She was a true professional the whole night. Answering all of our questions about the menu and she made some incredible recommendations. We were deciding between 2 of 3 appetizers. We had some Tuna and Yellowtail to start and we chose to leave the salmon appetizer out for this night, which I was kind of bummed about. 5 minutes later they bring my fiancé and I the salmon appetizer that we chose not to get this time and said happy birthday! That is true service and I don't know if she overheard us discussing the appetizer's but that gesture was spectacular. The entree's were fantastic and nothing short of amazing. However it was what happened at the end that made this night special, I was handed a hand wrapped gift and thought to myself. What could this possibly be? I open the gift and I see a box of PRO v1 golf balls. Anastasia looks at me and says, "we heard you like golf, happy birthday". This was positively the greatest customer service experience I have ever had. I am an avid golfer so this meant the world to me that they gave me a complimentary gift for my favorite hobby and that really touched my heart. This place is nothing short of heaven. OKU was already my favorite restaurant, however after my second time there, they have a customer for life. Highly recommend this place to anyone.

Celebrated my birthday here last night and it was an absolutely unforgettable experience. From a personalized message on the menu to a keepsake gift that I can treasure forever, every detail was thoughtfully tailored for us. The food was incredible and the complimentary appetizer was a beautiful touch that made the night feel even more special! The entire staff went above and beyond to make sure our evening was memorable. This is hands down our new go-to spot for sushi in Charlotte! Highly recommend especially if you're looking for the perfect place to celebrate a birthday dinner ! Thank you so much O-Ku for everything! We'll definitely be back ☺️

One of the most refined sushi experiences in South Charlotte. The quality of the fish is consistently high, and the menu balances traditional offerings with creative rolls that actually work. The ambiance is sleek and modern, making it ideal for a polished night out. Service is knowledgeable and well-paced, which elevates the entire experience. This is where you go when you want sushi that feels intentional—not rushed or generic.

This was the perfect experience. Seven of us went for a bachelor party and it was easily the best stop of the trip. Our server, I think his name was Brian, was cheery, knowledgeable, and efficient. As a bachelor gift, they brought us an appetizer of yellowtail to share that was unreal. We had a white Russian, old fashioned, and their featured moscow mule. All of us said it was the best version of the drink he'd had. As for the food, blew us away! Since we were celebrating, I splurged and got the A5 Wagyu nigiri. A single bite that was $17. Seems absurdly expensive, but I will say that I would buy it again. It's worth it.
All together, next time I'm in Charlotte, this will be a mandatory stop for us. Thank you O-Ku for making a memorable night for our group!

A little trip to Charlotte. We haven't had sushi in a couple years so he made reservations at O-Ku. It has a separate gluten-free menu and they are extremely knowledgeable and careful about cross contamination. The food and service was excellent, our server was Alex. My son ordered from the hot kitchen menu area and there was a delay in his food reaching the table with the other 3 orders. Management brought out Edamame and duck buns for his wait. Hubby and son highly recommends the Wagyu Nigiri.
