  I had a bad experience at Food Lion yesterday April 24 at Candlewyck. I had misplaced my phone and realized it was gone after driving about 3 miles. I came back to the store and went straight to customer service. There were two people there I asked one guy where the shopping carts were that were just pulled from the parking lot. I told him I may have left it there. His response was “maybe so “. He then turned around and left The female working in customer service was even less helpful. She was rude, loud and got in my face. She refused to help me. I told her to call a manager. This gentleman came up and appeared to try to calm the situation, but the female customer service wasn’t having any of that. After the manager and I walked off to go check with the card attendant, I could hear her aisles away, complaining about me. I was able to find my phone and left the store. Later, I was on the app Next Door. I mentioned the story and got braided by someone named Mark S from the store. He was name-calling and accusatory towards me. I have the entire conversation From the app and will be sending it to Food Lion headquarters in Salisbury. At the least, I expect that employee to be heavily disciplined or terminated.

  I have never heard of this!! So I have been sick and had Instacart getting my order for me at Food Lion/Candlewyck. Apparently, this store closes at 10pm instead of 11pm, like most of them. She was in there shopping and they actually told her she could not finish and kicked her out! OK, I have worked retail many times in my life. We all get upset when someone comes in late and makes us late cashing out, etc. But we always locked the doors, lowered the lights--and perhaps HELPED the shopper find things to make it faster. This is crazy! So we are sorry that we didn't know you closed earlier that other Food Lions. It was an honest mistake. But it is never acceptable to throw someone out. Yes, it is a pain to have to stay late. The shopper said that the manager was there. So they are probably on salary instead of hourly (no overtime money required). I have also been a retail manager. The protocol was to let your employees go home and stay yourself to let the customer finish! ....and take their money! That is what a manager does. You make the 'big bucks' to take on more work and stay late once in a while--even though it sucks. Ok, so Food Lion didn't want our money. Fine. I will be ordering from Harris Teeter from now on. That is ridiculous. If I was your manager, I would have stayed an extra few minutes. Or they could even help the shopper find items on the list to speed things up. So the Managerial decision was to throw her out empty handed. Ok! Food Lion doesn't want our money. I will be ordering from/going to Harris Teeter from now on...We are sooooo sorry to have inconvenienced you and will not bother you anymore. *Let me know if you ever have a vacancy in management over there. I have years of experience and will put the customer's needs over my own. I will bust my butt for you AND be good to the staff. Sometimes you have to get your hands dirty, stay late--even sacrifice plans. That is what managers do.

  Great place to grab your groceries. You are in and out with ease. And everyone there is friendly and helpful.
