Waited months to finally try this Whataburger without long lines. On January 10th, we saw only two cars and went through the drive-thru. Huge mistake.
Our order was simple (#1, #4, and #13 meals, Coke Zero, no special sauces), yet it was taken wrong multiple times by three different employees. The manager blamed the issue on our “English” instead of fixing the problem. That is unacceptable.
The entire process took about 20 minutes, no other cars were served, and there were at least seven employees working inside. This explains the constant long lines.
Drinks were mostly ice, fries were cold and soggy. The burger was good, but the service and management clearly need serious improvement.
First time visiting since they opened to see what all the hoopla is about. Three cars in line, took 15 minutes. I ordered one of their signature sandwiches, the double Whataburger w/cheese, onion rings, and a chocolate shake. At least the shake was good, OR's cold and greasy, the sandwich was so over powered with raw, strong, onions I had to scrap them off. And I love onion! Of couse not ONE napkin to be found. The girl manning the drive-thru had about as much personality as my sandwich.
Listen here Whataburger, if you expect to survive here in NC you've got your work cut out for you. Dairi-o, 5 dudes, Freddy's, Cookout, not to mention the big 3's, Micky-D's, Booger-King, Hardee har-hars, and many other privately owned burger joints, are going to wipe the floor with you if you don't get your act together. 🙄
It's bad enough taking 15 minutes to only move 3 cars in the drive-thru, but then getting subpar food is definitely a big turn off. Ill check back in 6 months to see if you've got your act together... or still in business ...
I really wanted to like this place! Staff members are friendly but need to pay attention to detail with orders!
Gave it 3 tries relatively spread out and at different times of the day since they are newly opened and every time my order was wrong!
1. Mix up with 2 of 4 burgers. One was supposed to have cheese and mustard the other no cheese no mustard. The burger with cheese had no mustard and the one that was supposed to be without either had mustard. Asked them to remake it because this place is too expensive. (They wrote the change on a receipt and it was still wrong!!) Again, the burger that wasn't supposed to have either had mustard. Went up for a third time and just asked for a new bun and transferred the burger myself.
2. Again 2 of 4 burgers were wrong. One had no pickles, no biggy I asked for some but pickles are standard so not sure why they weren't added. The $1.10 slice of American cheese was missing on another so again I had to ask for it and disappointed that it wasn't acknowledged on the ticket. (Just for fun. 1lb of Walmart brand cheese cost $2.48...)
3. Finally, Togo order 1 of 2 burgers were wrong, no ketchup packet or napkins added. Burger was supposed to have lettuce and pickles and no mustard, tomato, or onion. Burger came with lettuce and onion. Pickles were left off even though they are standard. Attention to detail is very bad. It was a togo order with no napkins and the sides for the burgers were mixed up in different bags. Not the end of the world since they were going to the same place but just to prove the point that attention to detail needs a lot of improvement. Fast food in a car without napkins is unfortunate.
Staff needs to pay attention to what tickets say. Whataburger is too expensive to be okay with orders being messed up every single time.

I visited your restaurant, excited, because I’ve lived in South Texas and enjoyed What-A-Burger for years.
The experience I had at your restaurant was appalling.
On Tuesday, 12/30, I ordered from the take out window. I ordered a spicy bacon burger meal and a bacon cheeseburger, with an extra patty meal. I ordered half and half tea/lemonade and large fries.
The person at the window Mike was obviously not up to the job. The order was repeated to her 4 times. She was talking to a co-worker and then would come back to us with, “Now, what drink/burger/fries do you want?” I should have taken a cue and left.
At the window, a very young man repeated the order- took money and made the drinks.
When I got our order, I checked it and told him we didn’t get the honey mustard on the orders. He stared at me. I repeated myself. twice before he snapped to the fact that Zi was waiting for sauces. I went the the parking lot to eat in the car.
Upon opening the burgers, I had no bacon on my burger. I grabbed my burger and fries, went back inside and an employee asked what was wrong. I told him that my burger had no bacon and that by the time they remake the burger, the fries would be cold. He asked if I wanted it remade. I told him I did. He asked me to go back to the car and get the receipt. I thought that was inconsiderate. I was looking at the young man that took my order. The car that was behind me was still at the window. IHAD JUST PULLED OFF.
So, I went and got the receipt and they started remaking the order. I waited about 10 minutes - it was busy.
A lady gave me the remade order, in a bag. I took it to the car.
I opened the bag. The fries were half full.
I got back out of the car and went into the restaurant. I called a young man, showed him the fries and asked if what I had was a large fry. He looked at it and said, “No, it is not.”
He brought me out a large fry.
I am extremely disappointed at the lack of competent service, at the quality of the food: the burger looked like the lettuce, onions, mustard, tomato, pickles were thrown on. The bun was sliding off because it was wet.
This was a total waste of $30.
I realize fast food is fast food but some people do fast food right. Texas does What-A-Burger right: the service is excellent, they stand behind the product and they ensure you are satisfied with the results. Maybe, that’s what your restaurant is missing: oversight, quality control and accountability.
I’m no longer enthused about What-A-Burger in NC. Do better!! It was a horrible experience, due to repeated blunders.
I hope you care, in the future, about customer satisfaction.
Alright 👏🏼 So here’s the thing… This is a relatively new location. And it being a Whataburger there are people going because they’ve never tried it, the hype, or people from Texas missing it. This place is extremely busy, and very chaotic.
Just don’t come unless you are willing to wait 30-50 mins.
My food took an hour and it got lost somewhere along the way. It was an online order and after 40 mins someone asked to look at my phone and wrote my whole order on a piece of paper. Meaning it was never coming or it got given away.
Now… as far as some other reviews stating that employees were just sitting around, I’m sure that happened. BUT when I was there, while it was chaotic, everyone was on their feet working. Also some people who’ve never working in food service before might see the girl at the register standing by and think she’s being lazy because she’s not hopping in when there is no one to ring up… some places are like that and if that is her station, putting her in the thick of it isn’t going to help and also could cause more confusion. When was the last time your hostess at a steakhouse jumped on the grill…
Service loses a couple stars because of the chaos but that’s something management (and I don’t mean the shift leader) need to get on.
However I’m giving it 3 stars because I saw (what I believe was maybe a shift leader, I want to say her name was Shelly.. sorry it was loud when I asked) absolutely busting her butt. She is the reason I even got to eat.
Aside from that, I thought the food was delicious. And while expensive, I got good portions. Veggies and bacon were fresh too. And although I waited that long, the food was piping hot.
So unless you are prepared for a 45 min wait , maybe hold off until the hype dies down
(Also come on, I went on Christmas Eve, respect the people who are working through the holidays that yall get 3 days off the week for!)
Oh, and DO NOT PARK NEAR THE DRIVE THRU TO GO IN, You will get stuck in your parking spot lol
