Outback, you’ve gotta stop wanting to charge 15-20 percent tips for to go orders. All they’re doing is bringing your bag out to the car. Pay these kids a reasonable wage and don’t put the onus on customers to pay this outrageous amount for literally nothing. I got 62 dollars worth of food and was being asked to pay $10-15. That’s outrageous!!!

We waited about 20 minutes to be seated which isn’t bad for a Friday night. We ordered apps and those came out quickly but our meals took over an hour and a half. Once our meals arrived it was cold and the order wasn’t correct. We were offered “gift cards for our next visit”.

Service was terrible. Not just at this location but the last 3 locations have been to had terrible service in the Charlotte area. Seems like either a company or district wide issue. This location was just the breaking point. Chips were horribly stale and took over 20 minutes to get fresh ones. Had to grab a beer ourselves that was ordered when we sat down. Normally I have grace with restaurants that are busy- but it was not busy at all. 2 members of our group also experienced food poisoning the following morning. Used to love Outback years ago but has not been the same in a very long time. Will not be returning to another Outback location again unless something is changed.

The nice thing about a well-run chain is that you can expect consistency in most aspects: Food, menu, ambiance. What is out of an owner’s control is staffing levels and ensuring staff has a heart for service, or at least has enough help on hand on a busy night. We visited this Outback on a late Friday afternoon. There was already a wait list. We decided to sit at the bar because there was only a couple of other customers at the time. Walking back, I noticed a lot of empty tables and only a small handful of servers. Explains the wait. The food was prepared nicely in typical Outback fashion. At first we had the bartender’s attention, but as time passed, more tables were seated and the bar started attracting more and more customers. Still just the one bartender and no bar back that I could tell. Things got real slow by desert time, and trying to pay and leave was a real challenge. Not that I would do this, but it occurred to me that I could just up and leave and I doubt the bartender would not even notice. I love dining out. I love going to a good restaurant. I worked as a server early in life. I know how hard it can get at times when it is very busy, the kitchen is making mistakes, and the customer is being a royal pain. A slot of restaurants are feeling staffing challenges. I try to be understanding and I left there feeling sorry for the owner who I doubt was on site. The floor manager, if there was one, never came by to check on things. I suppose the bartender did the best she could although I never saw her try to kick it into high gear. I’ll never sit at that bar again on. Friday if there is just one bartender there.
