I do like this store. I usually patronize the Carrboro Plaza location but occasionally visit this one on my way home from work. Today I was politely asked by a cashier to fill out the survey printed on my receipt. She was super helpful during checkout, even saved me a few bucks, reminding me to enter my rewards number when checking out, so I was happy to oblige. When I got home I went to the website labeled on the receipt only to see that I had to download a series of apps. I tried to bypass doing so, because all I wanted to do was let Food Lion Corporate know how helpful one of their employees was, but could not. I know everyone knows Food Lion is a crappy grocery store, but sometimes we all have to go there. Asking customers to fill out surveys is one thing, but to intentionally mislead then into downloading commercial apps is too much. Bad form. Food Lion, people shop at your stores because they can purchase cheap food and products. You guys will always have a customer base because you cater to lower income households. But this cheap move on your part is condescending and easily spotted by the educated consumer. I think I'm done shopping there.
Also, you don't respond to any reviews, positive or negative. Apparently Food Lion Corporate doesn't care, because they know people will always shop there anyway. Sad.

I was very disappointed by the service I received. My employer, Duke Hospital, gave employees a $50 food voucher for Thanksgiving, which was supposed to be used at any grocery store. It even had the Food Lion logo on the front and listed the store as one of the recommended locations.
I took the voucher to the store a few days before Thanksgiving and was told that they didn't know if they could take it, even though the Food Lion logo was visible, and that they would have to wait to hear back from corporate. Since I had just received it, I assumed it was new and decided to wait a week.
By then, a few of my co-workers had successfully used it, including at a Food Lion in Durham. So, I thought, "Great, let me go back and try again."
I returned to the store and even informed the customer service representative about my co-worker using the voucher at the Durham location. The representative went into the office, came back out, and stated, "No sir, we do not take it."
This was really confusing, especially since another Food Lion was accepting the voucher with no issues. After being denied a second time, I drove to Wegmans, who happily took the voucher and processed it.
The day after, while talking to my co-workers, I found out that another co-worker had used the voucher at this exact same Food Lion just a few days before Thanksgiving.
Did I just encounter a clueless employee two trips in a row, or did they simply not want to lift a finger and decided to turn me away instead? Either way, it was a very disappointing experience, specially since the employee on the second trip went to the office to double check with the manager/shift supervisor.
