Subway overall as a brand has been going downhill over the last few years. The frequent menu changes, Reducing the amount of food that they actually put on their sandwiches, coupled with increased prices, has kinda made this not someplace I go often to eat anymore anyway…
Unfortunately, this location manages to layer its own crappy service on top of an already failing brand, with declining quality and customer experience. In the evening shift at least, it’s run by sullen, unfriendly staff that have looked at me like I am an inconvenience whenever I have walked in the door. As many reviewers have consistently noted, the staff here are rude and offensive.
At this location, I have frequently found myself having to fight to get even a normal amount of veggie toppings on my sandwiches (I usually get the vegetarian options here), get the billing right, yet not get triggered by the attitude and passive aggression that many of the employees here frequently display.
I went here today with my family as I was craving one of my regular items at this place. True to form, the lady running the counter glowered at me like I was the only obstacle to her eternal happiness. Now, I understand food service workers don’t have it good in this economy, so I try to tip well and try my best to not be “that” customer. However, I did not appreciate the attitude the server gave me today when i asked her to please add one more slice of tomato and a cucumber on my very lightly loaded sandwich. Then she wrapped our sandwiches in shapeless lumps without closing the 2 halves and, to add insult to injury, proceeded to overcharge us.
For 2 six inch sandwiches and a foot long, the bill came out to $35 before tip! When I said that there must be some error since I get the same order every time and the bill is usually $24-$26, they did some show of re-billing and brought the total down. However, as I walked away, I looked at my receipt and found that they had overcharged me again!
Admittedly it was only by $1 but it was the principle of the thing and I was unhappy that they had basically again overcharged me the exact way we had discussed was incorrect the first time. I walked back to to work it out, and the flustered manager/cashier/sandwich artist/whatevr, who didn’t seem to speak much English, tossed a $1 bill at me in exasperation, which I promptly threw back in their tip jar (adding to the tip I had already given them despite their poor service) and walked away.
Hard pass to this location in the future. It kinda sucks what’s been happening to all these fast food places and particularly Subway. I had developed a few favorite combos over the years that I looked forward to stop eating every now and then, but I guess I will have to learn to live without it.
An unnecessary aggravation at the end of the of a long day…
