Of all the grocery stores chains in my area Food Lion has lower prices on the items I use regularly. Not a lot of gimmicks and their deals are usually better than the other stores.

I went to this Food Lion yesterday 1-6-26 around 3pm. I spent 1.5 hours shopping. The cashier was nearly done checking my food and was coughing profusely into her hands. She was sick. I asked her directly if she was sick with the flu and she said yes. I then asked "how are you working here right now touching everyone's food while sick with the flu"?. She slighting mocked me, so I asked to speak to a manager and she refused to call one. I had to find another employee to call on a manager. I finally spoke to the manager on duty I believe named "Trever" who introduced himself as the assistant manager. I calmly explained to him my concerns with what I had just experienced. His exact words were, "there is no unlawful reason why she shouldn't be able to work...and, it's not like she is preparing your food." I politely said what do you think the health department or CDC would say if I contacted them about that statement. He smugly laughed and said "you can do whatever you want that's up to you"
I disagreed and asked to speak the to store manager or regional manager, to obtain an email or contact number. He said he could not give me that information. I left my groceries where they were and went to the parking lot to call Food Lion Corporate Office. I reached an employee in customer service that was sounded concerned and seemed very displeased about the fact that a sick person or people are working at their grocery store in Bunn. Generated a report and said that he went on to contact the store manager.
I drove 20 minutes to the next town of Spring Hope and did my shopping at that Food Lion. I didn't get home until much later and it took me 4.5 hours which should have been 2 hours of my day. If I was a fit man in my 20's this really wouldn't be a huge issue, but I still would have said something. A lot of elderly people come and go to Food Lion, and they don't deserve to get ill from pure negligence. However I am not in my 20's, I am in my 50's and in very poor health as it is. And its very disconcerting that my only local avenue to groceries is conducting themselves so irresponsibly.

Years ago I rated this place as a great store with 5 stars. I’m now giving it 2 stars because it is convenient and clean. Their prices are high, I can get better food for about the same price at Wegmans, and more variety for the less at Walmart. I wanted Krispy Kreme donuts, which they USED to carry. Now they quit. Ok. No problem. I wanted Johnson Bros sausage log which they move ALL OVER THE STORE, but now they quit carrying that also. In fact there have been SEVERAL brands and items they have stopped carrying. And these are popular and known type food items. Next complaint, they constantly move products around the store. I swear tomorrow I’ll go in for milk and it will be located beside the dog food. I’m sure corporate believes this will cause me to browse the store and buy other things. NO. This has caused me to shop at Walmart unless I need a gallon of milk. Milk is the one thing I buy from here now. Good job corporate, I’m sure you are all college graduates. I’ve met one manager who I believe is good and at least understands customer service. The others are aloof and lazy. Just plain lazy. I have watched them see a customer in need of help and deliberately avoid that area…literally walk out of their way to go around. Most of the employees are great though. On a side note, because they move products around so often even the employees don’t always know where a product is anymore.
