Awarded both a Michelin Green Star and Bib Gourmand, Luminosa brings a hyperlocal lens to Italian cuisine; where Appalachian ingredients meet Italian technique. Located inside The Flat Iron Hotel in downtown Asheville, the restaurant celebrates the region’s farmers, foragers, and makers through an ever-evolving, seasonally driven menu. The wood-burning oven serves as Luminosa’s heart, infusing handmade pastas, rustic pizzas, and locally sourced vegetables with a touch of fire.
Praised by Travel + Leisure for delivering “bold flavors, strong ties to the local community, and a menu that lives up to its Appalachian claims,” Luminosa is both a culinary destination and a reflection of Asheville’s creative spirit. Our service here was VERY good, and the server was super attentive and helpful.
However, we were so excited about this restaurant and the food, but it honestly fell very flat for us. The flavors didn’t hit in the way we thought they would, the menu options were interesting but not a ton that GRABBED us, and overall we were pretty disappointed in the experience. I was so hoping for something amazing, but we were really let down! Such a bummer.

I was inspired by all of the five-star reviews and the Michelin guide nod, so I made reservations for me and my two friends who were in Asheville on a girls' weekend. The food was mostly tasty (not the radicchio salad), but the service was incredibly slow and rude. I felt mocked by the waiter when I asked for an Old Fashioned cocktail in lieu of a Boulievider; he said, "Sure, you have to learn to walk before you can run." Excuse me, but what? It took almost an hour for bread to arrive to our table, and then he tried to take it away before it was finished. He also didn't ask how we would like our checks split and therefore divided it evenly among us three when one of us ordered way more food/drinks than the other two. All in all, I don't plan on returning here again. The tasty food does not make up for the slow and inconsiderate service.

This was our first experience at Luminosa and it certainly won’t be our last. If you’re celebrating anything in Asheville, this is the place to dine! The moment we walked in the door, we were treated like VIP. Our waitress, Hayley, gave us one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had. She checked on us at all the right times, anticipated what we needed, and made us feel genuinely taken care of. Hayley went above and beyond in every way. Highly appreciative of her incredible service! Thank you team Luminosa! And Chef Cara… we’re still waiting on that focaccia recipe!

This was our first time at Luminosa. Riley was our server and took special care of us, making my birthday dinner unforgettable. My husband and I have been in the restaurant industry for 15+ years and we were both so impressed by the level of service and hospitality provided by the entire staff. Everyone that touched our table was incredibly informed, personable and engaged.
We sampled many plates (as well as cocktails and wine) and were overjoyed with our selection. It comes to no surprise that this team of professionals was recognized recently by Michelin, and I only expect more of the same success in their future endeavors.
Congratulations, and thanks again for a wonderful night.

This was top three best meals I've ever had. From the very beginning our host that sat us was so fun and sweet (loved their Labubu) Ace was our server and was the best I've ever had He was extremely knowledgeable, funny and gracious. We sat in the very back of the restaurant, so the tip of the building. The room was cozy with understated elegance that made you feel comfortable. The food runners were attentive and kind and did a great job of keeping our table cleared.
Ace talked us through the menu being sure to spend time pointing things out to each of us giving us a feeling of special attention.
The food was on another level. I had the best agnolotti of my life. The pork was perfectly cooked and juicy. The roasted carrots were so good with a slight char that paired well with the sweet glaze. The beef carpaccio layered on top of the focaccia to make a sandwich (a la Ace) was like butter. The apple salad was refreshing. The pizzas were perfectly made with nice leopard spots and well balanced flavors. The lemon paired with the Margarita was perfection. All of the desserts were amazing but the standout for me was the vegan chocolate gelato. It packed the most amazing chocolate flavor with an amazingly soft mouth feel. I can't recommend this place enough. It has now become a favorite with my family. I only wish I lived closer so I could go more often.
