The food was absolutely stellar - we got the tater tots (5 stars), bread service (5 stars - best focaccia of all time?), beef carpaccio (5 stars - a favorite overall from one of us at the table), raddicio (also very good but didn’t compare to the aforementioned) , then lemon pizza (5 stars - never had anything like it before), and Brussel sprout pizza (5 stars - my personal favorite of the night) for starters. Honestly, everything was unreal.
Next - we had the rigatoni (5 stars - PERFECTLY cooked), gnocchi (5 stars - so fluffy?! How?!?), risotto (5 stars - fan favorite from one of us at the table), then pork chop (very good, but again, not comparable to the rest), half a chicken (5 stars - so good! So crispy). Our side game was (in order from most favorite): carrots, polenta, leeks, turnabaga, yu choy, new potatoes, turnips.
Desserts - clear winner from the table was the apple pie ice cream, but the chocolate cake with pistachio gelato changed my life so I think they are wrong. Special shout to the tiramisu, so good as well.
The real star of the show was the service, though. Felix was our server and was kind, wildly attentive, and funny. He timed everything perfectly, which is a massive compliment from our table of 5 - all of who work in hospitality.
We loved the special touches - signed birthday card from the whole staff, being allowed to take our table flowers home (never seen that before anywhere in the world!). Napkin folding and crumb cleaning elevates the whole experience!
Back of house - you guys absolutely crushed it. Taste, presentation, timing. We see you! We appreciate you.
Luminosa team, you deserve another star. One of my favorite culinary experiences ever. You guys went over the top for absolutely everything and we loved every minute of it - “the cherry on top” should be your motto.

Easily the best dinner experience I’ve had in several years. The food and service is exceptional on a regular day, but when you are celebrating something, they truly raise the bar even higher. We’ve been twice now and it’s quickly becoming my favorite restaurant in town. Make a reservation but well worth it!

We went to Luminosa for our anniversary and we couldn’t have made a better choice!
The staff was polite and seated us right on time. Waiting at our table was a yellow rose bud in a tiny vase and a note signed by staff members congratulating us on our anniversary.
We ordered glasses of wine and a lemon pizza to start. I had heard good things about the lemon pizza, but still the words “lemon” and “pizza” didn’t go together any better than the words “carrot” and “cake” (which I refused to try for years because of the contradiction), so I was tentative. It proved to be outstanding. The crust was cook perfectly and the white cheese with a bit of lemon was delicious.
My wife ordered gnocchi. We had gnocchi twice at other great restaurants in Asheville recently, and my wife said this was the best by far. The texture set it apart from the others.
I had the bone-in pork chop. It was seasoned well and grilled to give it a smoky flavor that was just right. After splitting the lemon pizza, I couldn’t eat it all, so I brought the rest home (it was equally delicious the next day). I would definitely order it again.
Our only gripe was the noise level for the first 10 to 15 minutes. A table of 8 next to us was incredibly loud to the point we were about to ask to be re-seated until we saw they were leaving. Afterwards, the atmosphere was great … including when another table of 8 was seated and talked without yelling.
Porter took excellent care of us and couldn’t have been better.
Definitely one of the best meals we’ve had in and around Asheville.

My husband and I tried Luminosa for the first time tonight celebrating our anniversary and the New Year. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel special and well taken care of. They even left us a “Happy Anniversary” card signed by everyone on the table. The food was incredible; the gnocchi knocked my socks off and my husband had the rigatoni. And don’t sleep on the zeppole!! Sure, the cinnamon buns are huge and decadent, but the fresh, hot Italian doughnuts with the ricotta stole the show for us. Our server Jesse knew the perfect wines to pair with our dishes and was an absolute delight through the whole experience. And I will die on this hill - best espresso martinis in town. Fighting words, I know!! We will be returning for special occasions often. Thank you for making our big night out so special.

Luminosa is a must visit if you’re in Asheville. The first thing we noticed was how unique the interior is given that it’s inside the flatiron building and we were lucky enough to be sat in the furthest away front room which felt private and cozy. Our server, Jamie, was so knowledgeable, passionate and fun; he really enhanced the whole experience. The food was stellar and their approach to sustainability and quality is evident even without their Green Michelin Star. We ordered the bone marrow tater tots, lemon pizza, rigatoni, baby carrots and chocolate torte. Everything was beyond excellent and the lemon pizza has ruined any future pizza for us. We will never be the same. I cannot recommend Luminosa more and ask for Jamie!
