Terrible waitress, rotten, black slimy lettuce in our salads, so-so entrees and we both had indigestion as soon as we ate. Too many good restaurants in AVL to go back to La Rubish.

We live here in Asheville and saw great reviews on this place from the Asheville foodies Facebook group. High marks. We spent many years in Austin- we’ve been looking around here for a good Mexican place for a while. I glanced at the menu but considering the rating we drove over just after they opened at 11 on Sunday morning. When we open the menu, I was looking around for enchiladas, and the waitress explained to me that they didn’t have any. Reynaldo, the chef and owner. Came by our table and explained their type of cuisine. Reyes is super nice guy. Long story short I’m glad they didn’t have any enchiladas! I had the puffy wrap with Chorizo- everything from the fluffy puffy tortillla to the chorizo was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Muy fabuloso My wife had the enfrijoladas - neither of us have had anything like it, in Texas or Mexico. Muy delicioso! Highly recommended- we will be back!

The best Latino restaurant that we have ever been to. The food is fresh and homemade and the owner and workers are super friendly. We traveled all day from Ocean City MD and immediately stopped in for dinner. My husband and I will always make a point to come back to La Rumba when we come into town.

I have lived in Asheville for over thirty years, and enjoy good restaurants. I've now been to La Rumba twice, and it's already made my current list of five favorite restaurants. Family owned and managed, spacious, relaxing atmosphere, excellent bar and cocktails, friendly and attentive service, moderately priced, and an excellent and varried menu. Most of the recipes are the owner's family's, from southern Mexico with Caribbean influences. More emphasis on flavor than heat. As they go to great lengths to point out, this is not Tex-Mex, which is what most people are more familiar with. Don't arrive expecting a bright decor festooned with sombreros and paintings on velvet, a salsa bar and enchiladas and tamales smothered in a choice of red or green sauce. If you do you'll be disappointed. This is what I consider upscale Mexican cuisine, really well done.

Out of towner...solo trip in, sat at the bar. Ray took great care of me. I had the house steak burrito. You have the choice of 2 sides...I chose both style beans. I would not change my rating, however my only suggestion is more steak and less rice in the burrito. Steak tasted great, but it was more rice than anything, for it to be a Steak Burrito. And like I said, it wasn't so bad for me to drop the rating. Go check em out, they are celebrating 4 years! Congratulations!
