We ordered take out here on New Years eve and went inside to pick up so I can't speak to the atmosphere. The food we got was very flavorful and I imagine it would have tasted even better if were served while dining in. What we picked up in our order was incomplete. In addition to missing tortillas and one order of churros, we also missed out on sauces/salsas which can sometimes make the meal. We called in and they were deeply apologetic as they were quite busy that night and offered us a refund on one of the meals - which I am still hoping will come through. Despite all of this, I think if we came back to Asheville again, we would try this place again.

So many amazing menu options, we just keep going back. We have enjoyed every dish we have ordered thus far! The food is so flavorful and fresh! You can taste & see the pride that goes into making it! Highly recommended! Start with their "most popular" dishes (highlighted on the website) and work your way through the menu! You'll thank me!

⭐ Hidden Gem Alert in Asheville! ⭐ Go before the word gets out and the wait is hours long! We discovered La Rumba, a true local gem, on our way to the North Carolina Arboretum, and it ended up being one of the best lunches we’ve had in Asheville. From the moment we walked in, the experience stood out. The owner and our server, Alejandra, was incredibly welcoming and attentive, making us feel like regulars on our very first visit. The menu is expansive, offering a wide variety of authentic Latin-inspired dishes, so there’s truly something for everyone (even my 8 year old who wanted chicken nuggets). We took Alejandra’s recommendation and ordered the mango habanero chicken—I was a little nervous about the heat, but it was perfectly balanced, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Highly recommend it, even if you’re spice-shy! We also tried the burrito and tacos, and every bite was fresh, well-seasoned, and generously portioned. If you’re looking for great food, warm hospitality, and a must-visit local restaurant near the Arboretum, La Rumba should be at the top of your list. This place deserves all the love and attention—support local and go check them out!

This place completely exceeded my expectations. The menu is rooted in Mexican tradition but isn’t afraid to take bold, creative risks — and every unusual combination we tried worked beautifully. Flavors were layered, balanced, and genuinely exciting, not gimmicky. Each dish felt thoughtfully composed, with ingredients that complemented each other in surprising ways. What really stood out was how refined and confident the cooking was. You can tell a lot of care goes into both the technique and the sourcing, and the result is food that feels fresh, inventive, and deeply satisfying. It’s rare to find a restaurant that manages to be both adventurous and consistently delicious, but this one absolutely delivers. Add in a warm, inviting atmosphere and attentive service, and it was an all-around outstanding experience. If you’re looking for Mexican food that goes well beyond the usual and rewards an adventurous palate, this is a must-visit.

If you want AUTHENTIC MEXICAN food. I highly recommend that you check this family owned restaurant out. I started with their queso and chips as an app (cleaned up all the chips and dip). Followed by their Adobo de puerco with rice and beans. The meal didn’t stand a chance against my spoon. After living in California for 5 years I was craving some legit Mexican food while I made my way through Asheville this evening. I randomly chose this spot but what stood out to me the most was their menu. It wasn’t your typical Tex mex menu. They had sides like yuca an plantain. And I had a feeling the food was going to be amazing. Everything I ate was very well seasoned. You could tell gramma added her touch and spirit into the food! It was nice to sit and talk with the owner while I cleaned my plate. He gave me a good back story on how the restaurant was started and how the recipes came to fruition. Thanks for having me at your restaurant brother Ray! I appreciate your hospitality. -Dj
