It’s finally hit me - Jagz is dead - no more delicious food served in a timely manner…no talent in the kitchen…no food cooked to make a lasting impression…cold food, tasteless food, expensive food. We started going to Jagz in 2004 - the year that Jeff and Amy opened it. Now I guess we need to accept that the Jagz we knew no longer exists and start searching for another restaurant that excels in making food that leaves a lasting impression and makes you want to go back for more.

Honesty so surprised! The prices on the menu do not reflect the quality of food and atmosphere. Our server was adorable, very sweet and kind! But the food? Hubby and I got ribeye steaks, both cold when we got them. Not cooked the way we asked, zero flavor. Our sides tasted like they had been reheated and plopped on the plate. The atmosphere feels like they’re trying to be fancy (hence the prices) but they’re not making it happen (hence the flannels and sweats some were wearing and mediocre food). Very disappointed. Left with a $130 bill and absolutely unsatisfied.

UPDATE: I previously RAVED about Jagz before the new owners took over! (See original review below) Now the ownership has changed. We have been back 3 times since the new owners took over. Each time the quality has gone downhill until now it's UNACCEPTABLE. They went from having some of the best dinner rolls I've ever had to some of the worst. (I liked the rolls so much that I developed my own recipe to duplicate them) This last time they must have been from the previous night because they were stale and inedible. They were out of prosecco. I ordered the crab cakes, which I have had before. They are now just a little larger than a silver dollar, and were soaked in grease. Borderline inedible. The vegetables WERE inedible. They were so overcooked that the color had drained from them. We also didn't appreciate the man who had rented the large group area to make a presentation. Apparently he had expected more than 5 people to attend. He was pacing throughout the whole restaurant like a maniac. He even stopped by one of the tables to "rearrange the silverware." To add insult to injury, they have jacked the prices up sky high so that it is no longer a value. The building could use some serious maintenance. There were wires hanging from the roof on the outside of the building, and the inside wasn't as clean as it used to be. This was supposed to be a birthday celebration. The only bright spot was our server, (Hannah) who was genuinely apologetic and tried as best as she could to make things right--an impossible feat. It is so disappointing to have one of our favorite restaurants go from fabulous to a total disaster.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: Excellent service, wonderful retro ambiance. Loved the real wood-burning fireplace. Felt like walking into another decade, which was comforting. Now the food--steaks, burgers, salads, chicken, pasta, seafood, and more. Haven't seen crab louie on a menu for YEARS! There is something for everyone! The food was absolutely amazing and a good value. A large selection of desserts that were too tempting to pass up. Jagz is more than twice the distance (25+ miles) for us to drive than where we usually go to dine out. We will be forgoing the trendy, touristy restaurants of Whitefish in the future to experience Jagz, our new favorite.

Fantastic experience, would go again. Food was excellent and our server Hailie was phenomenal. Server was knowledgeable about menu, very attentive and not rushed and genuinely cared about our experience. Meals that are in table included prime rib with prawns and sirloin both of which were medium well and the New York cheesecake. Both were delicious and cooked to perfection.

Calamari and the clams were excellent appetizers, or group had a pork chop, 3 prime ribs, and I had the seafood Alfredo. All were excellent, portions were right on for the orders, 2 8oz steaks, 1 10oz, pork chop the size of a man's fist. Service staff were very attentive and made sure drinks were refilled and plates were cleared when needed.
