I gave up on Outback 5-6 years ago. Where it was one of my favorite steak chains at one time, it went into a rapid tailspin and I wasn't willing to crash with it. So I walked away. Moved on to Longhorn as my better than average steakhouse. But every once in awhile I missed those bold, borderline aggressive, flavors and seasonings. Curiosity and a bit of stress (I am a comfort stress eater) finally drove me back to the aussie side. And it hit home. Swung for the fences in fact. Everything was exactly as I remembered in it's prime...well mostly. Appetizer was served quick and hot. And the mozzarella boomerangs, although a bit silly, were some of the best mozzarella sticks I have ever had. Smooth and creamy mozzarella cheese with a good pull and a light but crunchy coating with good seasoning. Some restaurants eating mozzarella is more like chewing gum. These were superb. Bread: warm & soft. Entrees (steak, alice springs chicken, bloomin' chicken) all hot, fresh and seasoned with gusto. Salads were crisp and well dressed. Nobody serves a salt jacket baked potato like Outback. Don't know that they invented it but they certainly perfected it. And our server was the best. Quick, accurate, attentive. Glasses never empty, empty dishes never lingered. Only complaint/criticism the fries. I recall the fries being something special (handcut perhaps?) The fries now leaned more towards the everyday. Solid showing with ample cheese and bacon...and that Outback ranch! But the fries themselves were good, well seasoned, but not as outstanding as my memories. Over all it was more than I hoped for. Hit the spot. Lead me down memory lane. Seasoned everything with gusto. And got me to thinking maybe the Outback should make it's way back into a regular rotation.

****EDIT 2**** Thomas the owner called me and we talked through the night. I feel alot better about the situation. He listened and was awesome. If we are ever up there I would give this location another chance. Thomas and Casey are the only reasons I will try it again and why my review went up. They actually provided true customer service and showed they cared. The server who made comments and we barely saw definitely needs some training but with these two I think this location with flourish. THANK YOU THOMAS AND CASEY!!! ****EDIT**** Stopped in and talked to Casey when they opened. She was amazing. Definitely made me feel a lot better. The owner is supposed to call me. I haven't seen anything yet but that could be due to my phone service so I plan to call tomorrow after I am home and they are open. (Usually I would talk to a manager at the time of service but with how the night went we didn't feel like we would have actually recieved help) Thanks to the lady today my stars went up some. We shall see how the talk goes with the owner. ****ORIGINAL***** We came in for a bite to eat while in town. Took 20 mins for anyone to come to our table. We already knew everything we wanted. The server explained she was covering a section outside the bar as well. It wasnt busy. We barely saw her the entire time. We finally decided to ask another passing server to get our order to go. I had to stand up to even get her attention. We couldn't ask for silverware, straws, or a kids drink for my daughter (she really wanted to try a booze free special drink and didnt end up liking it) The waitress was sweet but this night has been a joke and a half. We finally got out of there with our time being at an hour and 15 mins. No apologies from our server at all. Get the to go food with the to go cups and still no straws. I have never had such a bad experience before and thats saying something.

Today I drove back to Bozeman from Rapid City in less-than-ideal road conditions and chose Outback specifically because they offer lobster tails. When placing my order, I clearly asked for lobster tails along with several steaks and sides. When I got home, the lobster tails were missing. I called the restaurant and was told they did hear me ask for them — the server just never entered it. Even though I wasn’t charged, it’s disappointing to choose this place solely for something they’re known for and not receive it. After this experience, I’ll be looking for another place that offers both lobster tails and steak. Accuracy and attention to detail matter, especially on a larger order.
