This place was amazing, and it was obvious 20 minutes after sitting down that this is a popular joint. Service was fantastic, food was great, and the soda and ice cream off the chain!! Recommend for sure getting a reservation or getting in early. We walked after a show at the Fox. Much easier than trying to drive and park. Prices are also reasonable, so even better. The polish pickle soup is so worth the try too! Highly recommend for a different experience and atmosphere!

I was planning on going here before the Fox. We saw on the website that you should get there at least two hours ahead and call ahead to have enough time to eat and make it to your show. So we did that. We called 30 minutes before arriving, and arrived at 5pm. Once we arrived, we were told it would be about 15 minutes until a table was ready for six people. 15 minutes turned into a 45 minute wait and unfortunately we did not stay for fear we would miss our show. we checked on our reservation two times and each time were told it would only be 15 more minutes. We followed all instructions the website gave, and unfortunately they still couldn’t make a table for six people work. We are extremely disappointed. We understand restaurants get busy, but there was nothing they tried to do to accommodate us, like push tables together, or etc. it is now 6:30 PM and we still have not received a text that our table is ready. I would not recommend going here if you want good service, and I will not be returning.

Four of us went for lunch. Our server was the best, very patient and helpful with the menu and suggestions. I had pesto chicken on flat bread. EXCELLENT. One person had the Bird salad with half sandwich. Another in our group had the a favorite, I forgot the name but it was like a cheese sandwich with apples. He really liked the combination. Later we had the single scoop Ice Cream Sunday with chocolate sauce and whipped cream. Very good place.

The Fountain on Locust has been consistently solid for us over multiple visits. Most recently, we dined with our family of five on a Tuesday evening and were seated promptly for our 7:00 pm reservation. We ordered sandwiches, soups, appetizers, and drinks, and everything was well prepared. Two in our party had soups, both made from scratch and very good. The Cuban sandwich and grilled cheese stood out. They also do a nice job with retro and signature cocktails. The couple we tried were well made and balanced. The Art Deco interior gives the place real character without feeling gimmicky. The real reason to come here, though, is the ice cream. The milkshakes are enormous and excellent, and the desserts have never disappointed. It’s also worth noting they offer a gluten-free menu and substitutions, which is helpful for families with mixed dietary needs. Service has always been professional and friendly. A dependable St. Louis spot that works equally well for families, dates, or visitors from out of town.

I had heard amazing reviews of the fountain, specifically their pickle soup, and needed to try it. I think we attempted twice over a period of time before actually finding a time where there wasnt a 40+ minute wait, so we figured it had to be really good. And it was! It was also loud and pretty heavy-traffic where we were seated, but we came for the food, not the ambience. The pickle soup and the tomato appetizer we got were both phenomenal. The entree i got, a Cuban, was mediocre. I'd give the fountain another go and just pick something different, but I do recommend going.
