I cannot get past their cruel and unappetizing version of French toast. French toast should be made with Brioche bread. Theirs tasted like sourdough and I was very disappointed considering that's all I ordered.
The waitress was bubbly and attentive. She provided perfect service and great conversation.

It breaks my heart to write this, but this place that we used to frequent for weekend breakfast and coffee is no longer the place I remember. Since the original owner sadly passed away last summer the menu has shrunk and most sides are now a la carte. There is a sign next to the empty back bar that says (paraphrasing) "We are now proudly zero proof". When we asked the server why they no longer serve what used to be an extensive and delightful morning cocktail menu she said they weren't selling enough alcohol to justify the cost of the liquor license. Huh?? This place used to ooz with love and attention to detail, and now it's painfully obvious that cost (and corner) cutting is the new business plan. How sad. After raving to friends and family about this place for years, I now must, unfortunately, withdraw my recommendation. EDIT: After receiving the owner's reply to my review, I amended my rating. The food is good. The service is friendly. However, the overall experience has declined and the reason is cost. I get it, but inflation is like the rising tide. You cannot choose to not participate. Your choice is stark and unavoidable: Either raise your prices to protect your brand and your business, or don't and watch the business slowly bleed out. I know I would pay a lot more to have the old BPC back. I hope they do before the damage is irreversible. I wish them all the best in these challenging times. ♥️

At the last minute, in a clutch, Benton Park Cafe & Coffee Bar came through!! Getting married at Atelier 1879 a few blocks away, we forgot one important item: coffee for our guests!! Yikes. One serendipitous moment and a quick question gave us the answer: a Cambro filled to capacity with the black, liquid goodness we needed after the cafe closed. Delivered as promised, with cups, cream, and sugar! Thank you again, Benton Park Cafe & Coffee Bar. We will be back. Joe & Alissa Class
