dishes tried - chicken wings, jollof rice with goat , egusi with fufu and lamb
It was our first time trying west african cuisine and the food was really flavorful. It did take a little while for the food to come but it was totally worth the wait! The meat was tender and tasted wonderful. the employees were very kind and helpful with our order. I have celiac disease and was really happy to see that most of the options were gluten free and the fried dishes were fried in a separate fryer to avoid cross contamination. 100% would recommend!
Amazing spot! Like many other reviews, it is a good spot to ask for recommendations and try out African food for the first time. Their decor was amazing and their servers were phenomenal people. The only mishap during our time here was they forgetting our drinks, however, this was addressed by the time we left.
As for the spice level, I think they gauge spice quite appropriately, coming from a spice fiend. Their “spicy” level was a gentle tingle and heat, although, I would have loved to have their greatest spice level. Though, this maximum spice was not recommended by the server, so I did not get it.
I’d rather put up with Larry over at the African Palace.
I don’t know if it was because it was a door dash order but that should not even matter!
The fu fu was yellow and gummy
The boiled egg was cooked too long it was green in the inside
And the fish was cooked too hard. Egusi was supposed to be hot flavored but it was not! I ended up ordering a seafood boil bag from somewhere else . Thanks but no thanks.

We happened upon this place during an outing to The Loop and were impressed from start to finish. The interior decor is deliberate and aesthetic, while also being cozy and comfortable. We had never really experienced African cuisine and might have been overwhelmed, but Prince took the time to explain the menu and even give us samples to try before ordering. We had the Egusi, deviled egg, and samosas. It was honestly some of the best food I’ve ever had. Very fresh and flavorful, perfect comfort food for a rainy day. We also had cocktails (French 75) that were delicious and beautifully presented. Prices were very reasonable. The staff were all so welcoming and kind. Just an overall fantastic experience, we will be back!
