Went to Africana for the first time Easter Sunday. I was very happy with the food. I am here from NYC and have been having difficulty finding good food here. I have been looking and trying different places for over a year. I would follow the ratings and was always disappointed. EXCEPT here at Africana. I was so impressed with my Snapper, hot/spicy and crispy. Great flavors! I also ordered the fufu and Egusi soup. Really Good! My hats off to the chef. I was impressed.
Everything I ate was absolutely delicious and packed with savory flavors! Even the plantain was absolutely delicious and naturally sweet as a dessert. We ordered many different dishes, but the best experience was combining them all. African chicken, peanut soup, the fufu, the red snapper and the waakye rice!🤤😋😍

Amazing experience! My husband and I will definitely be coming back. The food, the atmosphwre, the service - all amazing. Hesitant about branching out or are you trying to convince a loved one to try something new? Start with the chicken! The plantains and peanut soup were my favorite
There's a free parking lot across the street. We walked over from the metro stop at forest park

I ordered through DoorDash. I selected the the egusi to be extra spicy. The food tasted like what an American who has never been to Africa imagines West African food to be. The egusi was not spicy, little to no melon seed paste, it was like a tomato stew with 70% cooked spinich and peppers. The fish itself was good but didnt send pepper sauce with the fish (who eats poisson braise without spicy sauce???). 37 dollar for white washed food. I had really high hopes for this place. Either name this as Africana American, or make your food actually taste African. I will tell my grandchildren the horrors of this egusi as their bedtime stories when i grow old
