Panera. When my wife asks for it, I cringe. And then I go get it because I lover her. Why cringe? Their food is excellent. Where else can you get quality baked goods in a drive thru like this? I get why women love it. But at these prices? I have to question the value proposition. Then there's this. I live a couple blocks from this location. It's my local joint. So it's not like it takes me a long time to go and pick up my wife's favorite sweets. But at these prices, my MINIMUM expectation is that my order will be accurate and the service be top notch. A few weeks ago, I placed an order for pickup. And they left something out. I didn't find this out until I got home. "That's why your supposed to check it while your there, moron," is the typical comment. "When you have a lengthy order in multiple bags and they separate every different item into little mini bags in the big bag, it's not practical to unpack and repack everything while there's a line of others picking up their stuff. And it's 'you're', not 'your'. Brush up on your grammar," is my answer. Guess what happened this morning? They left out my cream cheese. For me, the one thing that makes bagels edible. So 2 times in a row - my order is wrong. They already have your money when you place the order. You're over a barrel. Here's why I still gave them 3 stars: the manager did the right things. First off, after I placed my order online, I got a call. He told me they were out of the egg/cheese casserole thing. Souffle? (Thanks France). But. He did the right thing. The first words out of his mouth were, "I'm so sorry...". Then he offered a remedy. I accepted and appreciated his customer service skill. And again, when they left out my cream cheese, I called and spoke to the same person. I'm so sorry - again the right response. And correctly offered me remedy options. At this point I still wasn't angry. Mistakes happen - but here apparently they do so regularly. Based on my experience. When I arrived to pick up my cream cheese, this same man was the busiest person in the restaurant. He had a headset on, having a conversation with somone, while simultaneously checking someone else out at the cash register. He was clearly doing more than his share. But I'm staring at my receipt in my hand. All the items are listed - including my missing cream cheese. And each one has a Sharpie checkmark by it. They physically checked off everything on the receipt. A prudent measure to assure quality control. They also checked off MY MISSING CREAM CHEESE. So the quality control measure is failing. Someone doesn't have their head in the game. When I appeared at the pickup counter to get my item, I explained to the staff that I was missing an item from my order. Blank stares. They weren't busy. The guy I talked to on the phone was running around like crazy. And HE was the one who while simultaneously doing everything else around there, also came over to help me....... so by this time I was starting to get irked. Mostly because it was obvious that you just can't get good help these days. That guy deserves 5 stars plus. But I see no evidence that the rest are doing anything to help him. 2 pickup orders in a row? Whoever owns this franchise needs to stop counting their money and start getting involved in how their restaurant is run. I suggest training. I solve problems for a living.
