  One of the top places in Kansas City for barbecue. And everything on here is my opinion. It's a fun atmosphere, but very clean. Service is excellent and the barbecue is buried and delicious across the board. Pork, canned beef and chicken are all served hot and well. Smoked. The sides are varied, not just the usual potato salad and baked beans, but a broccoli slaw, bacon masterpiece and jalapeno cheddar corn bag is sublime.

  Our monthly weekday visit to KC BBQ took us to Char Bar in Westport. A frequented bearby parking garage just started charging $10 but on this day we fould plenty of free parking in front and across tge street (designated for Char Bar). Arriving just before the lunch hour we (4 of us) were seated immediately in the larger of their two indoor areas(they also have bar seating between these and an outdoor area). Doors were open to the outside producing occasional wind gusts but the temperature was a perfect 70. The environment seemed very clean and tableware was decent (not the plastic and paper stuff). Staff from entry, to table, to food service were all very friendly, pointed out menu specials, sauces, etc. I stuck with the turkey sandwich for comparison while others tried brisket & pork, and ham. My turkey was very tender and the bun seemed freshly made such that I'd rank it up there in the top 3 so far along with Slaps and Wolfpack. The beans and BBQ sauce were very good though I wouldn't rank either the best we've tried so far. I also had their sweet potato fries which were nice and evenly cooked, not soggy or too crunchy. Overall, a very tasty meal. Next time I might have to try the Salmon BLT as it sounded great. Meal before tips was under $20.

  Decent spot for World Cup fans. Plenty of beer and great BBQ, superb outside space with games to play. Negatives- it can be tricky to find free parking nearby so allow extra time if driving.

  Normally, this is one of my favorite Sunday brunch spots. The reason being is it's the only day they have fried chicken. They have the best fried chicken around! Anyway, last Sunday we went in, we were seated, given menus and I told our server, no need, I know I want fried chicken. He proceeded to tell me they don't serve fried chicken until noon, the fryers aren't even hot yet. I expressed my disappointment and took a menu. After he left, we all mentioned the fact we had been there several times before and had chicken before noon. No where on the menu did it state it was served during certain times on Sunday. I suspect someone forgot to turn the fryers on. Ordered a breakfast burrito and it was just meh. It's been a tradition of ours for the past several years to eat at Char Bar before the World of Wheels car show. The last few times I've been there, something has been off, little things, like I ordered a bloody Mary, the first one came with garnish, the second one didn't, when I asked about it, the response wes, oh, well, not everyone likes the garnish after the first one. So, if I DON'T ask for it, don't give it to me, it's part of the drink. Kinda like the we don't serve chicken until noon thing. This last experience really left a bad taste.

  We were here for lunch a couple of weeks ago and the food was fantastic. We ordered the family platter. It was enough to feed 4 adults and a toddler. I have been to many bbq places around KC and this is one of the best. Every dish was delicious.
