  Pulled pork sandwich was very good. Where they really fell down was service and their sides. The Mac and Cheese was ok but pretty runny. The beans rate a 0. There were more huge slices of onions in the bowl than there were beans. I’ve had bean soup that was a thicker consistency. The only front of house workers were teenage girls who spent most of their time hiding behind a counter giggling and on their phones. My order was dropped at my table with no words and no explanation of where a new customer could find the self service silverware.

  This place is outstanding. We all have our go-to BBQ spots, and it’s easy to overlook new places, but you don’t want to miss this one. I tried the turkey sandwich, and the smoked turkey was perfection. The pastrami was equally impressive—tender and deeply flavorful. I can’t recommend this place enough. The service was friendly and fast, and the staff treated you like a friend. There’s a quaint indoor mercantile attached—a huge space you can stroll through after a great meal. Honestly, it earns a solid 10 out of 10.

  I ordered a ham sandwich, two pulled pork sandwiches, fries, brisket chili, and a two-meat plate with burnt ends and hot links, plus a large order of onion rings. Total came out to $85 with no drinks. Overall, the sandwiches were great and all the sides were solid. The only downside on portions was the onion rings—I wish there had been a bit more for the price. There was a small mix-up with the sausage. I ordered hot links but was initially given something else. A staff member checked in, I asked about it, and she quickly confirmed the mistake and replaced it without any issue. That level of service goes a long way, so no complaints there—just something to double-check when ordering. The burnt ends are my personal benchmark for BBQ, and these were good. The flavor and tenderness were definitely on point. I do think they could’ve used a bit more bark/texture to really make them stand out, but they were still very enjoyable. All in all, I’ll be back to try more items. It’s a solid local spot, and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a non-chain place to enjoy a good BBQ meal.

  We decided to give this place a try & I AM SO GLAD WE DID! Arrived at 7:36 (Didn’t know it closed @8 until I started my review..:( …) From ordering to leaving this place was great! “Braxton” was the one that greeted my husband and I and took our order.. My husband & I BOTH pulled out a $50 to pay for the $34 bill (yess EVERYTHING seen in pictures was only $34) - Braxton, Kindly & without skipping a beat took BOTH of the $50’s from us- I look at my husband, he looked at me & we were confused but, NOT Braxton.. He chose to take both of our $50’s and in his head split the bill between us. & then gave us both equal change back. This to others might not be a big deal but, I have been married for 32yr to this man and we do this same thing probably 2x a week and NO ONE has ever done that! So, at this point i was impressed- But, then our food came out - quick, hot, and was AMAZING!!! This is our new favorite BBQ!! By far! We have not even left our table and we have called 2people to tell them how great it is!! So, from the cleanliness to the price of the food to the taste of the food to the service.. it was ALL GREAT .. I would give this place a 6star if i could .. GREAT JOB AMERICAN WAY SMOKEHOUSE!! We will be back!

  Came to American Way for the first time with my friend for lunch, and had a pleasant experience. Friendly service and nice atmosphere. We both had a pulled pork sandwich, which was piled so high with pork that I had to remove half of it in order to bite through it. But that was ok because I took it home and was able to have two more smaller bun sandwiches during the week. The buns are big, soft, and have kind of a sweet 'n buttery taste. The BBQ sauce is good. And the cole slaw has good flavor. I ordered a brisket sandwich with fries to go for my husband. He enjoyed the fries but had a bad experience with the brisket. It was so tough that he had a hard time chewing it. He said he has never had such tough brisket before, and that typically it's so tender it practically melts in his mouth. He gave me a piece of it, and I agreed it was very tough. I couldn't chew it and had to spit it out. Thats why I gave the food category just 3 stars. I hope that's not the way the brisket typically is here.🤔😏
