My girlfriend and I stopped through Herman a couple years ago and went to Wurst Haus for their all you can eat breakfast. It was so good, we planned our valentines day trip around going to Herman just so we could go to the Wurst Haus again! I think we went there 3 or 4 different times in one and a half days.
Thanks Mike!

Very bad experience with deer processing for the 2025 deer season. My son took a deer there for processing and he was not clear what the actual cost was going to be, which is his fault for not verifying what the total cost would be. In Feb 2026 they notified him his meat was ready to be picked up and he owed $474.01. He questioned if this was correct and Erica was very rude and said yes, it was correct. He paid a $200 deposit and was wondering how 30 lbs. of snack sticks and 15 lbs of jerky was going to cost $674.01. I went in to pick it up and questioned the amount. They were offended I was questioning the amount. Erica handed me over to Mike the owner. He tried pointing out it was $200 for skinning and processing the deer, $5.50 x 30 lbs and 6.50 x 15 lbs ($262.50), so I questioned again how that adds up to $474.01 on top of his $200 deposit. It finally clicked in with them that they had not accounted for his deposit, but no apology, just I owe $274.01 for the balance. Erica rings up the register and then I had the audacity to ask if there was sales tax, because I come up with and additional $262.50 for the sticks and jerky. At first she said no tax and I said that doesn't add up. Then Mike said it was because of the 15 lbs of pork added to make the sticks. I am still confused how 15 lbs of pork but has $11.51 in sales tax. Then he says it is because sales tax applies to the 30 lbs of snack sticks. I am not convinced this is the correct application of sales tax, but at least I understood how they came up with the number. I tried to stay calm stating I am just trying to understand the numbers. Their attitude as a retail establishment was very surprising, since they were not humble at all after starting off with trying to overcharge by $200 and all I was asking was to explain what they were charging for 45 lbs of processed meat. They said my son signed for it and understood, well I tell you he didn't and since they didn't include the total cost on the order form indicates to me they purposely don't make it clear what the total cost will be. This has been an expensive learning experience for my son and a bad experience with the Wurst Haus in Hermann. We will never do business with them again.
Mike, thanks for your response.
The attached picture of your order does NOT have a total. If you truly want to be transparent, you should have at least had the total $462.50 plus tax on the order. I think a lawyer would agree the order should have a total cost. Again, the main issue I have is the attitude both you and Erica had when we questioned your original total owed, which did not include the $200 deposit. YOU WERE WRONG and even in your response to this review, no apology. Your arrogance is amazing. World class jerky and snack sticks is like claiming you are the world's tallest midget.

I attended the Summer Sausage 101 class at Hermann Wurst Haus last weekend and I could not be happier with what I learned. For a deer hunter who processes his own meat, it was hands down a life changing experience.
Before the class, I had just made 80 pounds that honestly turned into dog food. I was frustrated, confused, and questioning my life choices. After spending the day with Mike and his team, I finally understand the process and feel completely confident making summer sausage the right way instead of just hoping for the best.
I also discovered something unexpected. I like the German bologna, sweet bologna, and peppered bologna even more than traditional deer summer sausage. I did not see that coming at all. From now on, my deer are officially getting promoted to German style bologna.
If you are a hunter processing your own venison, or you just want to learn how to make high quality sausage and deli meats without accidentally inventing expensive pet food, this is absolutely the place. One hundred percent worth it.
And do yourself a favor and stock up on meat before you leave. We drove three and a half hours and I seriously wish I had bought more. I thought I brought plenty home, and now I am already rationing it like it is a survival situation.

Attended the summer sausage making class that was held 2/6/26. The class was very thorough and all the staff were very knowledgeable and helpful. Many of them have been in the business for years. I believe that I have learned enough to put aside my doubts and attempt to make a batch of venison summer sausage.
Everything that we ate that was made in house was very good. Truly a first rate place and a destination in itself.
Thanks to Mike and his team for a great time!
