The Freight House is enough of an experience in itself to make the food sort of play second fiddle. It's all good and quite value priced. Super kid and whole gang friendly, pets welcome on the large patio. Staff friendly and accommodating. Try the Chicken Wild Rice soup. It's the best in the city.

Lance was our server and he was the sweetest, most considerate young man. I had stomach surgery a month ago so I’m on strictly liquids. Since they had nothing on the menu I could eat, he literally went to another restaurant a block and a half away and purchased some beer cheese soup for me with his own money and brought it back to our table. He was attentive to my needs and made me feel so seen and important! Needless to say, we reimbursed him for my soup and tipped him greatly for having such a kind heart and going above and beyond his duties! We need more Lances in this world!

I received a $77 parking violation charge after eating at The Freight House (Stillwater, MN) in late September, 2025.
Parking used to be free for patrons. Although the manager said there were signs everywhere, neither my wife or I noticed them.
We have been eating at The Freight House for at least 10 years. We've had family lunches/dinners, easily spending several thousand dollars in that time.
When I expressed my displeasure with the manager (Cameron), he indicated the signs were displayed and that there was nothing he could do.
I told him there's always something an establishment could offer for their valued customers. His only suggestion was to call the 3rd party "violation notice customer service" number. They were no help.
So, we can only choose to avoid The Freight House in the future and tell as many family and friends about the lack of customer empathy from their management, and hope they will also boycott this restaurant.
Charging patrons to park in your lot is a poor management decision. Not working with long-time patrons is even more concerning.

We visited the Freighthouse during Stillwater fall harvest days on Saturday. It was fun. A lot of people lot of vendors. There is a live band playing the food at the freight house was what you expected for bar food. We just had sandwiches and burgers salad. Service was good pretty fast lotta people were sitting outside so we sat inside and we got faster service that way, but nothing fancyI would probably visit again.
