- JTJessica Torrez-JerkovichMar 20, 20185.0I can honestly say that I've never had poor service! I try to speak to my server using his/her name. (I admit I will ask if I don't see the name tag.) I feel it shows respect and appreciation for the hard work because he is not your servant. I treat my server as I would want to be treated. I've always found that speaking directly with eye contact builds a relationship. This has led to more attentive, and gracious willingness to accommodate the orders, for me, at least. I make a point to bring extra cash for the tip, instead of putting it on my card. I will give a larger cash tip (even over 20%) for EXCELLENT service. I am very courteous and verbally let him know how well he did. I will write a note on the receipt for him, but also for the manager to see. Taking the extra moments for the personal note and my signature will hopefully help this person to smile and lift his spirits. I also want the manager will see the note and appreciate a good employee. Complaints are always around, but I think phenomenal service should be acknowledged.
