Stopped by since I was in NE running errands. I am NOT a fan of Fish and Chips but I saw they had Sheppards pie on the menu.
I added Irish cheddar and man, this thing was de-lush-iius! The cheese was bubbling and a perfect compliment to the meaty innards and mashed potatoes.
Just what I wanted o n a brisk December winter afternoon here in Minnesota.

The food was ordered for take out.
We got home within 20 minutes. Deep fried fish. Chips were delicious. Tartar sauce was tasty.

The most delightful Sunday afternoon. The food is absolutely delicious, the servers are the best and we really enjoyed talking with Luke, the owner. This restaurant is an absolute must! We will be back!

HUGE fish portions perfectly fried. The best chips and house-made tartar sauce, excellent poutine, shepherd's pie and bangers. Ordering and seating is a bit unconventional but it makes sense because they are a small operation but wildly popular. When you walk in, you check in at the station to your left. You can also grab a pint of beer or a glass of wine to wait for a table. The workers watch for tables to open up. Once a table starts to vacate, you order and pay at the station while they clean up your table. Once seated, your food is out rather quickly. Believe me, it's worth the wait.

We've been coming to the Anchor for at least 10 years, since not long after it opened, including when they had the tent outside due to Covid restrictions. The food has always been great - the best fish and chips (Irish/UK-style) that I've eaten in the US.
However, the new ordering/service style is horrible. Gone are the days of just waiting for a table (pre-Covid) or making a reservation (post-Covid) and being guaranteed seating on arrival. Gone also are having a server take the order at the table. And gone are the friendly servers who used to work here.
Now we have to line up at the podium under the (ugly) wall menu, order and pay (and pay a tip, even though no service has been given yet), and then: stand around until a table frees up, with no help (only attitude) from the serving staff, all while the food is presumably being cooked while we're still standing. When I asked if they could help us snag a table (there were 6 of us) I was told that was just up to us. I'm not sure what we'd do if we hadn't managed to get one; I suppose the food would have just sat there on the counter and gone cold.
My advice (and I know I'm not alone in saying this): scrap the stupid podium ordering/no help from servers/scramble for a table "system" that you've introduced (I'm told the owner wanted to do it - goodness knows why) and go back to the Irish pub vibes and system that makes sense. If not, I may get takeout from time to time, but I won't be returning to dine in.
