I have 3 kids and it was so kid friendly and she was so kind. The food was incredible as always - generous portions and they even made me a custom pesto pasta that wasn't on the menu b/c that's what my kids prefer! They also gave me a complimentary glass of wine. Excellent customer service, delicious food and warm and cozy atmosphere!

Drinks good root beer was flat though… All said.. a good spot for pre game.. just don’t expect authentic Italian… vibe is awesome.

My experience with Buca di Beppo however surprised me due to the lack of professionalism and price-transparency, and I felt urged to warn other customers in the area. I liked the food, but my experience with staff took this down to two stars. I called for a pickup order downtown a few weeks ago while I was running other errands, and thought this could be a special treat for me and my partner. When I called to arrange the pick-up, it started off a little confusing. Someone answered the phone “Hello”. I asked, “Is this Buca di Beppo?” And the voice on the other line just said “Yuh”. Honestly, I don’t care much for formalities and I was fine with this, as long as the service was acceptable. Instead, it served as a red flag for the lack of professionalism and transparency at a restaurant that I once thought to be pretty awesome. I had checked the website for prices and asked the employee on the other end of the phone to confirm the prices for the items I had ordered. All I had in response was “I don’t have that information in front of me” and “I’ll have to put you on hold”. He could not give me prices or a total on my order. It was a little frustrating at that point, but I was still trying to order some nice Italian food. Since the employee said he didn’t have the information in front of him, I asked to pay at the store instead, and he said that I couldn’t since they’ve had issues with people placing orders without paying. Instead of answering my questions, he asked for my card number and said he’d get back to me with my total. I, stupidly, gave him my card details expecting the order to be $60.00 according to the website. The employee put me on hold for over ten minutes, and I hung up more frustrated at that point, and figured I’d check my Bank App. Instead of the $60 according to their website, I spent over $100. It’s not okay to not check with customers about big purchases. It’s not okay to treat them like a pest when we’re just trying to order food. The two stars are just for the food. The food was good. But I didn’t order as much food as they gave me, they charged me for it, and that’s disrespectful. Puts me off ordering from Buca in the future. They may have been a downtown staple, but now? Maybe a downtown scam.
