My brother and I had a fun, nostalgic visit to the original Rainforest Cafe at the Mall of America. While our food and drinks took a bit longer than we would’ve liked, and the lightning and thunder weren’t quite as loud or dramatic as we remembered, it was still very cool to experience the original location. The highlight of our night was our server, Travis — he was absolutely hilarious and kept us laughing through every interaction, from ordering to the final bill. It brought back great memories of going to the Rainforest Cafe at Towson Mall in Maryland when we were younger. We only wish there were more locations around the U.S. — we’d happily go again!

I’ve always heard good things about the Rainforest Cafe. Considering I’ve never gone, I had always wanted to dine in for the restaurant’s exotic and entertaining atmosphere. I’m personally not from Minnesota, and there’s no locations near me, so I knew it’d be on my bucket list for things to do. Walking up to the establishment, I was promptly given a ticket, and seated quickly, keep in mind I dined alone, so that likely played a role in my chances of getting a table on short notice. I took in a moment to admire the atmosphere, It wasn’t like anything I had seen for a restaurant. I actually felt I was in the jungle, with the essence of the trees, the moving animals, and the small details like the designs on the table. I also thought it was cool how the restaurant turned into the jungle every ten minutes… for what it’s worth, I truly felt comfortable dining here! My waiter Tanner, gave me excellent services, allowing me time to look over the menu, and giving suggestions on his go to meals. I ended up settling on the fish tacos and a Diet Coke… which took no more than 15 minutes to come out. The presentation was nice, the sides and main being divided. The fish tacos themselves were incredibly flavorful, the fish being rich, topped with pico and cilantro, there was also a lime with rice and beans to top the tacos with, they were excellent. Everything from the atmosphere to the service and the food exceeded my expectations. In the end, I paid $33, including a tip for the meal, which was well worth the experience. I hope to return to the rainforest cafe in the future.

Giving 4 start due to the food, is really good tasting but the ribs had way too much fat(almost none of meat. Ambient is super good, I mean who on earth don’t like rain and thunderstorms sounds?!!?!?!? And Maya, our server, 10 out of 5. Her service was top notch, super fluent, good knowledge of the menu, and the best part I live in MN and my mom and was on vacation (from Puerto Rico) and she doesn’t speak English at all, however MAYAAA stepped up and make my mom feels like home when she (Maya) started speaking Spanish. Is so good to have people this fluent and bilingual on whatever language. And of course save me time translating as well!!! Maya kudos and hi from two families (already one) Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 and Philippines 🇵🇭 !!!!! Keep it up 💪🏼

I really wanted to like Rainforest Cafe, especially since this is my boyfriend’s favorite restaurant at the Mall of America but after two visits, it’s just not it for me. The first time we went, we were seated and then waited over an hour at the table before even getting a drink. No check-ins, no explanation just sitting there wondering if we’d been forgotten. The second visit was somehow worse. I was served frozen coleslaw, and the fries were so cold they were basically hollow inside. It felt like the food had been sitting for a very long time before it reached our table. The atmosphere is fun and nostalgic, and I get why people love it for the vibes but the service and food quality have been consistently disappointing for us. Unfortunately, I probably won’t be letting my boyfriend choose this place again. If you’re coming just for the experience, maybe grab a drink and walk around. But for an actual meal? I’d recommend looking elsewhere in the mall.

Server Kaitlyn was absolutely wonderful during our visit yseterday! We had never been here before and the whole place felt magical and so much fun... my party and i are in our early 30's but we were definitely the ones overreacting with excitement in the establishment! And Kaitlyn was very sweet and accommodating of this! She even encouraged us to go see the moving animals up close and really enjoy everything. She was so kind and attentive and checked in on us multiple times and made us feel completely at home!! THE PERIODIC THUNDERSTORMS WERE AMAZING! The food was yummy too, it came out super fast. I got the Chicken Caprese and the strawb banana smoothie and it was delish. The restauarant interior is simply beautiful, too! Couldn't get over the ceiling design and the lighting changes during the thunderstorms. Can't wait to hopefully come back! THANK YOU KAITLYN, YOU ROCK!
