I took my boys to Grains for dinner tonight, and it was FANTASTIC.
We ordered butter chicken, lamb Rogan Josh, coconut shrimp curry, palak paneer, and of course garlic naan.
My boys both had mango lassi, and I had a chai for beverages. We ordered everything “medium spicy” and it was a little mild for my taste, but perfect for my 13 year old.
He normally rejects palak paneer without even trying it. He had thirds tonight and said he wanted to go to Grains for his next birthday dinner. High praise indeed!
If you’re looking for Indian on the west side, I really recommend Grains.

I was very impressed with Grains. We got the butter chicken and lamb Tikka masala, along with garlic naan. Everything was hot, fresh, and delicious. The lamb was tender and both sauces were full of great flavor. The exterior isn't super impressive, but inside is clean and aesthetic, with great spacing between tables. The staff were all so friendly and gave great suggestions, as this was my first time with Indian food. They were so quick with drink refills, greeting us, bringing the food, etc. The service was just excellent all around. The portions for the price are reasonable, and we had plenty to take home with us. We will definitely be repeat customers!

If I could rate it above a 5 I would! Ive had Indian food all across the US and THIS is by far one of the best Indian restaurants I have been to. Definitely the best in lansing. I absolutely adored the staff, the food was a great portion size, it was fancy and affordable. Great for anniversaries or valentines day. The mango Lassi was soooooo good. The lamb was falling apart it was so fiireee!! I highly recommend.

First time trying “Grains Indian Cuisine”. I got to say I’m absolutely stunned by how amazing and authentic the food is here. I’ve probably eaten at 20+ Indian restaurants throughout Michigan. And only 3 of them have truly authentic tasting Indian food. I’ve had the real stuff before so I can tell you this place is very authentic.
Most Indian restaurants food is bland, and lacks bold spice and depth of flavor. This place is absolutely amazing. My mouth is actually watering as I’m writing this review. Also, they have nice spicy heat levels as well. I love my Indian food extra extra spicy. And they have the spice level “Indian Hot” which is my preferred spice level; I can even handle spicy levels beyond this. I have a super high tolerance for spicy food so I order my food way spicier than most people do. So I’m impressed.
We ordered 2 orders of Butter Chicken, Crab Meat Curry and Vegetable Samosas. The food was absolutely amazing. Like I said earlier, most of the Indian restaurants I’ve tried don’t get the seasoning spice level correct so the food is lacking depth, and flavor. Both the Butter Chicken and the Crab Meat Curry was like a flavor explosion in our mouths.
My personal favorite was the Crab Meat Curry. The Crab Meat Curry was real crab meat in the same creamy tomato sauce as the butter chicken “aka makhani gravy”. The sweet crab meat, with the creamy makhani sauce was a perfect flavor combination. This is probably my new favorite dish. Plan on trying plenty of other dishes here in the future. We will definitely be back and we highly recommend this place to anyone that loves Indian food and loves the traditional bold flavors traditionally found in Indian food.

I visited this restaurant for the first time last week and was immediately impressed. The ambiance felt warm, clean, and almost like a fine-dining establishment where you’d expect excellent food and service. I was greeted right away and seated comfortably.
Both the service and the food were outstanding. The staff were attentive — checking in often without being intrusive and quickly refilling water when needed. The first meal was delicious, so I came back a second time to see if the consistency held — and it absolutely did.
On both visits I ordered the Lamb Rogan Josh — tender chunks of lamb in a rich curry sauce, served with white rice and a salad (I chose salad both times). It was flavorful and cooked perfectly.
The restaurant was clean and well-organized both times, and the overall experience was fantastic from start to finish. If you’re looking for a new place to try — especially for Indian cuisine — I highly recommend this spot. I’ll definitely be returning with friends and family soon!
