  Had a great experience at Tropical Smoothie! The place was clean, the staff was friendly, and everything came out quickly even though they were busy. My smoothie tasted fresh and perfectly blended, and the food was surprisingly flavorful and filling without being heavy. Definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to, highly recommend!!

  This Grand Rapids location is great! Super friendly with great service. I often get the Peanut Paradise, my favorite Smoothie from Tropical Smoothie Cafe! Heather hooked me up with a sample of both kinds of Proteins (Pea & Whey). While both are delicious, I found the Pea Protein to be a touch sweeter than the Whey. The Pea Protien also has more protein per serving.

  Tropical smoothie offers a special on smoothies from 7am to 9am during happy hour. However, you have to ask for this deal or they will not automatically give it to you. I went in at 8:30 and asked why it has to be mentioned that it’s happy hour and it’s not just automatically applied. The young lady and manager came over and told me it was because the company and owner loses too much money. I told them that this was kind of bogus. I then got lectured about how the company loses money. The owners lose money and everybody loses money when they offer free stuff. I’m sorry but as a consumer, I’m not sure why she felt the need to bring up how much a company is making when it comes to a special they offer. If you don’t want people to be able to get a deal don’t offer the deal but don’t pick and choose who gets to have it based on mentioning it (if it’s happy hour at a bar they don’t make you mention it). I’m all for everybody getting paid, but let’s all admit that if you own a business it’s tough yes, but it means your in a better position than those of us who don’t!- please do better in training people how to talk to your customers, because as owners, your financial situation should not be mentioned when I ask about a deal that should be applied automatically.

  I love getting my morning smoothie here at the Michigan Ave location twice a week. I come at the same time every visit — between 7:00 and 7:05am. This morning, however, I watched the employee walk in at 7:01, and she told me a couple minutes later over the drive-thru speaker that they were not open yet. I asked if they were just opening late this morning, and she didn’t say anything for a minute and then said they weren’t. I then asked what time they would open since Google says 7:00am, and she didn’t come up with a time — only said she just got here and hadn’t set up yet. I asked again what time they’d be open since I had a few minutes and could wait. She said 7:30. It truly wouldn’t have been a big deal if she’d owned up to being late — a smoothie won’t make or break my day — but I hate being blatantly lied to about something I know to be true. I’ve been here dozens of times before (at 7:00am!) and have had a wonderful experience, but this employee needs to do better at taking accountability and time management.
