I recently visited Suga Please while downtown for a few photoshoots and decided to take my mom out for brunch. When we arrived, the atmosphere was nice and it seemed like service would be good.
Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. After placing our order, we watched multiple tables around us, many who were seated after us, receive their food while we continued to wait. After 43 minutes, we still had not been served.
What was most concerning was the lack of cleanliness and management. The manager (wearing black gloves) was tending to an upset child, wiping his nose, and then proceeded to go to the back and handle plates without changing gloves. That was extremely off-putting.
To make matters worse, no one seemed to notice or care that our table, located right by the kitchen, had not been served. Our waitress checked in once and said our food was coming, but after another 20 minutes, there was still nothing.
When we finally spoke to the manager, her response showed poor management and lack of accountability. There was no real apology, , and no acknowledgment of the inconvenience.
Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, especially considering the potential the restaurant initially showed.
Can't really say anything about the food but we came on a random day. They told us the wait was an hour, which was fine. But we had to stand and wait in the lobby. They do not take your phone number or allow you to leave the premises while you wait. Then someone comes outside and calls your name. Seems like an outdated system and very inconvenient.

We were a party of 6 in town visiting. We waited around 20 minutes for drinks. The waitress informed us a lot of things on the menu was not available. Then she started to take another customer order before ours. We were informed it was only one cook available. We didn't get to order food due to our 2 hour window and food would not be ready before we needed to leave. Gratuity was added to our bill just for drinks. It ended up being not a great experience. Maybe if in town for a long stay will try again.

Let me start by saying I'm from Chicago. The food in this restaurant doesn't compare. The coffee superb. The wait wasn't too bad. The table didn't have utensils or napkins. Then they gave us plastic utensils. The waiter Dre was very friendly and welcoming. The grits were gritty, watery, bland and cold. The fried catfish & grilled shrimp was seasoned very well. The fried green tomatoes were bland and I had a mouth full of corn meal. My friend chicken was very dark but under cooked. The Manager agreed the food was bland today. The Manager A.C did say the usual cook wasnt here today. They attempted to reheat our grits in the microwave with the catfish that didn't need to be reheated.

I had an absolutely amazing experience at this restaurant! The food was incredible every dish was full of flavor and clearly made with care. The customer service was outstanding; the staff was attentive, welcoming, and made me feel truly valued. And the music? It created such a great atmosphere that I honestly didn’t want to leave.
Great food, exceptional service, and the perfect vibe is exactly what I look for in a dining experience, and this place delivered on all three. It’s been hard to find a restaurant that checks every box lately, so I truly feel blessed to have come across this one.
I will definitely be back and plan to visit much more often. I’ll also be a walking advertisement for this place because it deserves all the recognition! My only request please extend the hours!!!
Thank you for such a wonderful experience!
