The surly and perpetually upset bouncer greeted me with "it's 20 bucks tonight, pay or get out of my face", the bartenders who all claimed to be managers who "don't have time" to let me taste the 3 beers I found interesting, the "owner" who seemed to have had a bit too much, and the endless wait to get a beer from the 'counter service only' had me believing I found a small town spot with big city Ed Debevic's schtick (My favorite restaurant back home!)I loved it! Until...I learned it wasn't a schtick. The bouncer really was upset to see people who wanted to come into the brewery. The bartenders really were all managers, and the drunk guy pretending to be the owner really was the owner! I've never experienced a family owned/small business where everyone seemed so genuinely upset to see people walk in the door to spend their hard earned money. The show was fun, the 2 beers I had only gave me a minor hangover, and the pizza that I had to wait for (what felt like) over an hour was absolutely delicious...but I just can't get past the disdain for the patrons... I debated on whether or not I wanted to post such a negative review but after reading some of the other reviews, it's apparent that this has been and continues to be an issue. I hope they can do something to make their employees happier, because I would love to see a small business thrive in a town I genuinely enjoy visiting.
