We ALWAYS have a great experience at the Gandy Dancer. Rodney, our server today was fabulous. Besides the usual fine service, he went out of his way to make our five year old grand daughter and two year old grandson feel welcome and very special. Very kind of him!!

We've been to the Gandy six or seven times in the past 5 years, and unfortunately the last 3 visits have left things to be desired. There seems to be a recurring problem with food sitting in the window for far too long - leading to crusts forming on mashed potatoes, steak juices drying out, crab going cold and lobster being overcooked. The staff has always been fabulous but unfortunately we won't be back again, because the quality of the food does not match the price with how many other options there are in A2.

The ambiance at Gandy Dancer is excellent and truly sets the tone for a pleasant dining experience. The historic setting is warm, inviting, and ideal for a relaxed meal or special occasion.
Unfortunately, the service fell below average. While staff were present, the attention to detail was lacking, which affected the overall experience and made service feel inattentive rather than polished.
The food was disappointing, particularly the coconut shrimp. It looked and tasted like something from the frozen section of a grocery store, lacking the light, flaky coconut coating one would expect. This dish did not meet the standard suggested by the restaurant’s atmosphere or reputation.
Overall, Gandy Dancer excels in ambiance but needs significant improvement in service quality and food execution to match the setting.

Wonderful atmosphere seated in a cozy booth with trains going by. Historical and charming. Polished service, thank you Bill!! Food was good with obvious serious care given to presentation. Enjoyed the ricotta appetizer, wedge salad, Cobb salad, shrimp pasta, seafood roll and creme brule with espresso. Only shortfall was lack of clearing dishes. We looked at finished appetizer plates, finished butter containers and empty glasses cluttered on the table til we left.
Overall very nice, good food and friendly staff including host.

Wobbly and slanted table — that’s how our night at Gandhi Dancer started, and unfortunately it only went downhill from there. The table was a total disaster, rocking the entire time and setting the tone for what turned out to be one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had.
The problems didn’t stop there. We ordered scallops as an appetizer, and one of the five shells came out with no scallop in it. How does that even happen in a place that calls itself fine dining?
Next came the Caesar salad — except they forgot to add the dressing. Yes, a completely dry Caesar salad. At that point we were already questioning everything.
Then the chicken schnitzel arrived burned and bitter. It had to be sent back. The replacement was actually good — but by the time it came out, the rest of our party of seven had already finished their meals. So one person sat there eating alone after everyone else was done. For a “fine dining” restaurant, that’s unacceptable.
We communicated all of these issues to the manager, and nothing meaningful was done. No real acknowledgment, no effort to make it right. Saturday night and busy!!! They are taking their customers as a sure thing!!!
The total bill for seven people was over $510 (w/o any alcohol) — not a cheap night out. For that kind of money, you expect professionalism, quality, and at the very least basic attention to detail. Instead, we got a chaotic, disappointing experience.
If you’re considering Gandhi Dancer for a special occasion, be prepared — it may completely ruin it. Total disaster.
Happy Hour is Monday to Friday from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM.
